        1. Basics of Love: Love Makes All the Difference

Which is the most important command? Jesus replied, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second most important is similar: Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.’

          Matthew 22:36-39
          Three Laws of Love
          I. The Best use of life is love.
          Love Proves My Faith

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:8

Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.1 John 4:20

Love Merges My Life Into The Kingdom

“Love is more important than anything else. It is what tieseverything completely together.” Colossians 3:14

          Love Echoes Through Forever

”And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. Butthe greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

“ If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing..” 1 Corinthians 13:3

II. The Best Expression of Love Is Time

“We must show love through actions that are sincere, not through empty words.” 1 John 3:18

“The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” Galatians 5:6

“Live a life filled with love for others, following the example of Christ, who loved you and gave himself as a sacrifice to take away you sins.” Ephesians 5:2

III. The Best Time To Love is NOW!

“Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone…”Galatians 6:10

“Use every chance you have for doing good.” Ephesians 5:16

“Whenever you possibly can, do good to those who need it. Never tell your neighbors to wait until tomorrow if you canhelp them now.” Proverbs 3:27-28

        2. Basics of Love: Let Love Be Your Greatest Aim

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. And love your neighbor as yourself. There are no commands more important thanthese.”

          Mark 12:30-31

        3. To the Full: We Need a Savior/Our Dragon Slayer
Luke 2: Tells us the Nativity Story with an Earthly view.
Revelation12: Tells us the story from the heavenly realms.

“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. 6 The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days”. Rev 12:1-6

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I havecome that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10

“7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.” Revelation 12:7

“But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you!He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” Revelation 12:12

7 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keepGod’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus. Revelation 12:17

“Rest of her offspring”= THAT’S US

This Christmas, may we realize we are living life not on a playground, buton a battleground.

        4. Full of Home: Hope Can Be Dangerous When It’s Anchored To the Wrong Thing

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

          John 10:10

“Out of his fullness we haveall received grace in place ofgrace already given.” John 1:16

We have this hope as ananchor for the soul, firmand secure. Hebrews 6:19

Message From John to Us Today
Hope fills you up when you anchor your life to Jesus.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:1-4

No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. John 1:18

Hope fills you up when you anchor your life to the cross

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:17

When you’re not anchored to the cross
If you don’t really anchor your life to the cross, you’re going to minimize sin.
Truth of the cross: the cross is the reality that your sin is an enormous deal.
Truth: Because of the cross, your sin is gone.
How to anchor in on this:

“I know my sins are a big deal. God ,I know, I confess that your ways are better.”

Hope fills you up when you anchor yourlife to the resurrection.

Praise be to God the and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

                1. Love 1st, Love 2nd, Love 3rd
God is Love – Jesus is God – Jesus is Love

1 John 4:8 – “Whoever does not love, does not know God, because God is love.”

John 8:58 – “Very truly I tell you, before Abraham was, I am!”

                  “When Love Came to Town”
                  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TGU35i8czo&list=RD_TGU35i8czo&start_radio=1

I was there when they crucified my Lord I held the scabbard when the soldier drew his sword I threw the dice when they pierced his side But I’ve seen love conquer the great divide

When love comes to town I’m gonna jump that train When love comes to town I’m gonna catch that flame Maybe I was wrong to ever let you down But I did what I did before love came to town

                  Love First
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, body, and soul.

                  We love first because …

1 John 4:19 – “We love because He first loved us.”

                  Love Second

“and the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:39

Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

                  Love Third

John 13:34-35 – “A new command I give you: Love one another, as I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love oneanother.”

Love First — because we love the Lord our God
Love Second – because we love ourselves and He has deemed us worthy
Love Third – because when we love others we show ourselves as followers of Jesus

Be blessed this week and bless others by loving first, second, and third.

                  • Life to The Full: Faithfulness

“ The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

                    John 10:10

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift”. 2 Corinthians 9:15

                    (GIFT = JESUS)

The Bible Has 3 Basic Sections
Old Testament, Jesus is coming. It contains prophecies; it contains promises concerning the coming Messiah.
New Testament, in the Gospels, the first four…four books, we see Jesus is here.
Acts- Revelation is Jesus is coming again. And so, we need to be faithful.

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John1:10-1410

                      GIFT:

Heb. 4:15 “ For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin” (Gift came to show us The Way)

John 1:10-11 “He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came tothat which was his own, but his own did not receive him.” (Sadcommentary)

Truth: A gift is only a gift when it is opened and received.

Truth : A gift is not dependent on the worthiness of the recipient; the gift is dependent on the grace and the generosity of the giver.

Truth: A mistake repeated more than once is a decision

John 1:11-12 11 , but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (THE NAME IS IMPORTANT)

John 4:12-14 “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name,he gave the right to become Children of God— children born not of naturaldescent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. TheWord became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”

                      The GIVER:
                        Left heaven.
                        Became flesh.
                        Divine became human.
                        Giver was sacrificial.
                        The Giver was unselfish.

“He is full of both grace and truth.”

The first Christmas, Jesus came to earth so that on the first Good Friday, hecould pay for our penalty!

                        THIS CHRISTMAS:

You can count on the faithfulness of The Giver!

                      • How Much You Mean to God: When Jesus Goes Out to Eat
4 BAD WAYS TO LOOK AT YOUR VALUE
By Appearance (How do I look?)
By Affluence (What do I own?)
By Achievement (What have I done?)
By Approval (How well am I liked?)

“Jesus was going through the city of Jericho. A man was there named Zacchaeus, who was the chief tax collector, and he was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but he was too short to see above the crowd. So he ran ahead to a place where Jesus would come, and he climbed a sycamore tree so he could see him. When Jesus came to that place, he looked up and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, hurry and come down! I must stay at your house today!’ Zacchaeus came down quickly and welcomed him gladly. All the people saw this and began to complain, ‘Jesus is staying with a sinner!’ But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, ‘I will give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone, I will pay them back four times much!’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Salvation has come to this house today! This man is a true son of Abraham! And I, the Son of Man, have come to seek and save people like him who were lost.’” Luke 19: 1-10

NO MATTER HOW SMALL I FEEL, JESUS SEES ME

“…he was too short…(but) when Jesus got to the tree, he looked up…” Luke 19:3, 5

“…God never overlooks a single sparrow. And he pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail – even numbering the hairs on your head!” Luke 12:6- 7

NO MATTER WHO IGNORES ME, JESUS KNOWS ME

“…Jesus looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name ‘Zacchaeus!’ he said.” Luke 19:5b

“Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for a child she has borne? Even if that were possible, I would never forget you! See, I have engraved your name on the palms of my hand.” Isaiah 49:15-16

NO MATTER WHAT I’VE DONE, JESUS WANTS ME

“Jesus said, ‘Come down quickly! For I am going to be a guest in your home today!’” Luke 19:5c

“I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you with me.” Revelation 3:20

NO MATTER WHAT OTHERS SAY, JESUS AFFIRMS ME

                                  “

All the people saw this and began to complain, ‘Jesus is staying with a sinner!’” Luke 19:7

“This man is a true son of Abraham! And I, the Son of Man, have come to seek and save people like him who were lost.” Luke 19:10

                                  MY RESPONSE TO JESUS:

“So he came down at once and received him with joy. Luke 19:6

                                  THE RESULT

“Zacchaeus said to the Lord, ‘I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I’ve cheated anyone, I’ll give back four times as much!”’ Luke 19:8

“Jesus responded, ‘Salvation has come to this home today!” Luke 19:9

                                1. Worship Is Powerful: When Jesus Goes Out to Eat

“Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, ‘If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.’”

                                  Luke 7:36-39
                                    SHE WORSHIPED BOLDLY
                                    SHE WORSHIPED HUMBLY
                                    SHE WORSHIPED HONESTLY
                                    SHE WORSHIPED EXTRAVAGANTLY

“Jesus answered him, ‘Simon, I have something to tell you.’ ‘Tell me, teacher,’ he said. ‘Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?’ Simon replied, ‘I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.’ ‘You have judged correctly,’ Jesus said.” Luke 7:40-43

“Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.’” Luke 7:44-47

“Love always hopes, it always trusts, it keeps no record of wrongs and love covers a multitude of sins.” (From 1 Corinthians 13 & 1 Peter 4:8 )
