However, when you add a musical dynamo named Joe Buono, you have the WEST JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT BAND ..... and that makes it stand out above the rest. Mr. Buono is more than a director ...... he is a leader. In only two years on the West podium, Joe has molded one of the finest bands in the state. Their two district ratings of "1" and their latest success as a First Division rated band at the state festival is proof again that indeed, "WEST IS BEST' and I know that "Joe made it so!"

Indeed, in addition to being a professional French Hornist who was highly in demand, Mr. Buono was a builder of great bands, a true leader, a developer of young minds and talent, and a terrific teacher who turned all of his students into successful men and women who always strived for the best and never stopped achieving top status!

Professor Dr. Joshua Duchan, a Music History Professor from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, called in to discuss his upcoming book, entitled, "Billy Joel: America's Piano Man", which is due to be released in June of 2017.

An Ethnomusicologist who specializes in American popular music, Dr. Duchan is already a widely published author.
