Listen Later

In this podcast (Episode 1 of 2) Chris interviews Kent Anderson, President / CEO, Ohio’s Hospice.  Kent is one of the most strategic minds in the hospice and serious illness world.  In this riveting interview Kent shares a great framework for nonprofit Boards in the hospice and palliative care space to consider.  There was so much great content this will be a two-part series.  Chris and Kent also discuss the hyper competition coming at hospice and palliative care programs and how Boards can perform their fiduciary duty while at the same time endorsing nimbleness and innovation which is crucial for hospice and palliative care programs to be relevant for where the puck is headed in healthcare.  Join us and pay this podcast forward to your Boards.  It will be well worth 20 minutes of their time.

Bio:

KENT ANDERSON, FACHE, MBA/MHA

As CEO of Ohio’s Hospice, Kent Anderson leads a compassionate team intensely focused on celebrating life and helping people live their final days on their own terms, with dignity and quality.

Kent views his most important role as making sure the organization’s compass is pointed true north. Ohio’s Hospice takes an approach to care that deeply values both the spiritual and emotional needs of each patient, as well as the physical ones.

As the son of a retired lieutenant colonel, Kent learned that leadership is about influence — and to lead is to serve, to never come from a place of position or title. He loves the community of engagement and compassion we’ve built within the Ohio’s Hospice organization.

Kent is a healthcare executive with over 20 years of senior leadership/executive experience in home-based multi-site healthcare operations, from start-up operations to daily census management of 2000 plus patients.

Kent proudly served in the United States Army as UH-60 “Blackhawk” combat helicopter pilot, where he graduated as the Honor Graduate of his flight school training class.  He also served as Company Executive Officer, Company Operations Officer and Assistant Operations Officer for the Combat Aviation Battalion.

Away from work, Kent is always up for learning and enjoys everything from courses on wine tasting to spontaneous weekend road trips to off-the-beaten-path destinations.

Kent is married to his wife, Teri and they have two children, son Joshua, a member of the United States Air Force and daughter Rebecca, a graduate of The Ohio State University. They also have two Sheep-a-doodles, Bexar, and Buckeye.
