In this episode of IB Matters we talk to Sonia Singh, a PYP Coordinator at Prometheus School in Dehli India. After talking a bit about her upcoming virtual authorization, we hear from Sonia about some truly innovative and effective ways they build students' socio emotional connections.
I was truly impressed with all the ways they are helping students connect with each other and with their teachers while learning remotely.
Some of the strategies we spoke about in the podcast -
Processes introduced to ensure students interacted socially with their peers and teachers for closer bonding:
a. Zoom breakfast
b. One on one student connect time
c. Morning connect with students everyday
d. Talent show days
Some processes for emotional well being:
a. Mindfulness assemblies done by Ms. Amber of Dinocrew
b. Regular in class mindfulness lessons
c. Silent work time with background music
d. Choice activities for students
e. Stretching exercises for 5 mins before the onset of every lesson to avoid zoom fatigue
f. Quality circle time with students to address individual issues
