In Deep Ship!

Hang on to your $%#!*@ ribbons and detachable body parts, we've got an adventure for you today. We're diving into the world of The Amazing Digital Circus, an indie YouTube animated seris. This week, we're unpacking the listener-submited ship "Abstragedy" or the relationship between Gangle and Zooble.

These two humans navigate being trapped in a program run by an AI ringmaster Caine in this animated YouTube dark comedy series. We will dig into the show’s popularity, fan engagement, and ~20,000 AO3 fics. We will focus on the ship, outlining Zooble’s gruff toy-body identity struggles and Gangle’s ribbon-and-mask depression metaphor. They discuss why fans like the supportive dynamic, and whether real fan creations can get on us the ship.

This week we read:

Join the patron saints of one-way trips as we explore the containment-shattering cross ship "BloodyMary." This week we're exploring the mind child of some internet genius who took quirky scientist, Ryland Grace (Project Hail Mary), and paired him with brooding space terrorist, Simon (Iron Lung). This is truly a crack ship that some how has us all in a chokehold. We discuss its origins, why fans like it and how we reacted to the fan works. All to figure out if we're getting aboard the ship!

Our fanfics we read this week are:

Where Nothing Bleeds by interstellarisms

Heaven (Must Be Missing an Angel) by chubbysloth11

And special shout out to a fic Emily enjoyed: the great tribulation by aloremrem

Love gothic teens and bubbly werewolves, oh my! Join us for our first ship of the season, Wenclair (Wednesday Addams and Enid Sinclair) from the Netflix show Wednesday. We're debuting our new format where we explore the ship and the fan art to see if the fans can get us aboard their ship. This episode tackles listener-requested Wenclair (Wednesday Addams/Enid Sinclair) from Netflix’s Wednesday, outlining the show’s premise, huge viewership, TikTok-famous dance, and fandom stats (21k AO3 works; 12k for Wenclair), alongside concerns about queerbaiting and showrunner comments.

This week, we're reading: “If You Smell Something Burning, It’s My Heart” by rennajade and flower shop AU “Queen of the Night” by heyfools—highlighting tropes like opposites attract and forced proximity.

Mischief Managed. Pour two cups of tea and join us for this super-sized episode where we'll cover the final section of All the Young Dudes by MsKingBean89. We spent our summer with our favorite dead gay wizards, specifically Wolfstar (Remus Lupin/Sirius Black). We'll recap the final section of the epic fic and share our final thoughts on the story, the Harry Potter series and our anticipation of "Wolfboy" by B.N. King. We'll give the final tallies for our Cry Count and share all our nitpicks  (and profess our undying love for Grant Chapman--naturally).

We're finishing out our Wolfstar and ATYD series with one final work by @whoisflattery. (Sorry I just really like them!) See more of their work on Instagram.

It's calm before the storm in this section of our Summer Fanfic Book Club. We're working our way through All the Young Dudes by Ms. KingBean89 and its central ship WolfStar (Remus Lupin/Sirius Black). It's our final semester at Hogwarts and our first glimpse into life as child soldiers in Dumbledore's secret army. We'll cover all the Wolfstar drama, Hope's short, sad appearance in the story, Remus' first foray into werewolf double agent life and how the Mauraders are adjusting to life after school.

Join us next episode where we go all the way to the bitter end and share out thoughts on the internet sensation All the Young Dudes.

We're back again, covering another 30 chapters of the Wolfstar epic, All the Young Dudes. We return to MsKingBean89's masterpiece featuring the Remus Lupin and Sirius Black, just when things are heating up. In this section, we see Remus navigate a secret situationship, coming face-to-face with his past and just how his lycanthropy fits inside the wizarding world. We meet our first werewolf (outside of our Moony), Remus comes out to his friends and the war comes knocking on the Maurader's door.

We're back and this week's episode is what slow burn dreams are made of! Join us for part 3 of our Summer Fanfic Book Club on the Marauders-era Harry Potter fanfic All the Young Dudes. For today's episode, we're covering chapters 63–94 and obsessing over the Wolfstar slow burn (Remus Lupin/Sirius Black). We get clued in on the title’s David Bowie origin, then recap Remus’s sexual awakening (including a summer fling with Grant) and his growing realization he’s in love with Sirius. In the background, the wizarding war escalates— we're talking murders, Dark Marks, rising danger for Muggle-borns. At Hogwarts, tensions spike with relationship and house drama reaching all new levels. This was a fun one!

If you're reading along, our next episodes ill cover chapters 94–123.

Join us as we continue our summer fanfic book club with All the Young Dudes chapters 31–62. We continue our read through of MissKingBean89’s Wolfstar epic by recapping our stand out moments, how relationships are changing and, of course, the pranks and mischief made along the way. Tensions in the wizarding world set a ominous backdrop as the Marauders face their biggest challenge yet: puberty.

Hot fandom summer starts now: we launch our “In Deep Ship FanFic Book Club” summer series with the AO3 juggernaut All the Young Dudes by MissKingBean89. Across six episodes, we'll dive into the Marauders-era Wolfstar ship (Remus Lupin/Sirius Black). We start off with a look at the Marauders fandom as a way to revisit the Harry Potter world ethically, discuss fanfic’s appeal and discourse, and note the fic’s massive scope (about 500k words) and upcoming publication. Covering chapters 1–30, we'll talk about the Marauders' early days at Hogwarts. We'll also introduce segments where we rate our anxiety levels, measure how shady everyone's least-favorite rat is behaving, learn what is canon vs. fanon, and our visit our most important metric... the cry count.

Join us as we jump on the monster hunter to monster kisser express. In this episode, we're discussing "Bloodpact," the ship featuring Astarion and Wyll Ravensguard from Baldur's Gate 3.  In a classic Emily special-interest-info-dump, we'll explore why BloodPact works so well as a gothic character foil relationship — plus tragic backstories, hope and healing, and the controversy of horns. All before giving our final OTP score for the couple. Get your own score here.

Also big news! Rachel published a Twilight fanfic. Read it here!
