Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey bring their hearts and scissors to the screen in this Reaction & Review of Tim Burton’s 1990 gothic fairytale classic Edward Scissorhands. Starring Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean, Sweeney Todd) in one of his most iconic roles, the film follows Edward, an unfinished artificial man with scissors for hands, as he’s discovered living alone in a dark mansion and brought into the pastel-colored suburbs by the kind-hearted Peg Boggs, played by Diane Wiest (Parenthood, The Birdcage). As Edward struggles to fit into the conformist community, he forms a tender connection with Peg’s daughter Kim, portrayed by Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Heathers), setting the stage for a moving and tragic romance.
The film also stars Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine, Argo) as Peg’s husband Bill, Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club, Weird Science) as the antagonistic Jim, Kathy Baker (Picket Fences, The Age of Adaline) as nosy neighbor Joyce, and horror legend Vincent Price (House of Wax, The Fly) in a poignant final role as Edward’s inventor.

Set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, Stranger Things follows a group of kids as they face off against terrifying supernatural forces emerging from the mysterious Upside Down. Joyce (Winona Ryder – Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands) receives a mysterious package from Russia, hinting that Hopper (David Harbour – Black Widow, Violent Night) may still be alive. One of the most haunting scenes involves cheerleader Chrissy (Grace Van Dien) encountering a monstrous new threat—Vecna—for the first time, setting the terrifying tone for the season.
With darker horror influences, expanded locations, and cinematic scope, Stranger Things 4 kicks off with intense emotional stakes and ominous foreshadowing. Cotrona—transform into a team of adult superheroes in one of the film’s most crowd-pleasing, highly searched moments: the Shazam Family reveal. In the explosive Season 2 premiere, “It’s Alive!”, Dexter (Michael C. Hall – Six Feet Under, Safe) wrestles with guilt after killing his brother Brian, a.k.a. the Ice Truck Killer. The discovery of Dexter’s underwater body dump site by divers sends shockwaves through Miami, launching the FBI’s "Bay Harbor Butcher" investigation. Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter – The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Limitless) struggles with PTSD while trying to return to active duty, and Sergeant Doakes (Erik King – National Treasure, Oz) intensifies his surveillance on Dexter, convinced he’s hiding something.
Meanwhile, Dexter begins attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings to craft an alibi for his erratic behavior and meets Lila West (Jaime Murray – Spartacus, Warehouse 13), a seductive and mysterious artist who becomes his new confidante. Angel Batista (David Zayas – Gotham, Blue Bloods) continues to provide moral grounding, while Rita Bennett (Julie Benz – Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Defiance) grows suspicious of Dexter’s lies.
Key moments include Dexter trying to kill again after an emotional dry spell, Doakes tailing Dexter to his meetings, and the first hints of the intense connection between Dexter and Lila.
