Jackie Bonsignore, Tara Erickson, Roxy Striar & Paige Kimsey finish Peacock and A24’s Friday the 13th prequel with their first-time Crystal Lake Episodes 5–8 reaction and season-finale review! The second half of Crystal Lake Season 1 follows Pamela Voorhees as the camp reopens, the bodies continue piling up, and the mystery surrounding young Jason, Elias, Bellflower, and Project Argonaut finally comes together. Jackie, Tara, Roxy & Paige react to Pamela’s increasingly violent transformation, Jason’s tragic history, the divisive explanation for his abilities, the bloody finale confrontations, and an ending that brings the series closer to the original Friday the 13th!
Crystal Lake Season 1 Episodes 5–8 Full Reaction Watch Along:
/ thereelrejects
Created by Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry, Fringe), Crystal Lake stars Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees (Freaks and Geeks, Dead to Me), Callum Vinson as young Jason Voorhees (Chucky, Long Bright River), William Catlett as Police Chief Levon Brooks (Lovecraft Country, Abigail), Devin Kessler as Brianna Brooks (Godfather of Harlem, Juicy), Gwendolyn Sundstrom as Grace (I’m Beginning to See the Light, I Don’t Think I Believe in Love), Cameron Scoggins as Officer Dorf (Nashville, The Blacklist), and Hamish Linklater as Elias (Midnight Mass, The Big Short).
After the reaction, the four discuss Episodes 5–8—“The New Blood,” “Kill Them, Mommy,” “Friday…,” and “The Final Chapter”—along with Linda Cardellini’s performance, Pamela and Jason’s reimagined origin, the finale’s franchise Easter eggs, its connection to the 1980 movie, and whether the show’s bold new mythology works for Friday the 13th.
