Thereâs a whole lot of chiptunes at the following link.
We didnât start the conversation near soon enough to find any sort of completion on the show, but how do you change up the common WW2 shooter? Actually, how do you change up nearly any shooter?
I think we all have ideas on how we could mess around with things and put different spins, and weâve seen developers try new things before but what we havenât seen much of, that we could remember, was a shooter based in WW2 from the perspective of the German soldier. We got some calls about this during the show and people didnât seem all that against it, but I canât help but think thereâs a chart in almost every studio that develops shooters with a massive (or even short but immensely important) list of reasons why it canât happen. I mean, this has to have come up and for one reason or another is just not possible. Or it is, but it isnât marketable. Or something else I havenât thought of.
Can it be done? Sure, I think it can, and I wouldnât be surprised if it has already in some way been done and Iâm forgetting it. Can it be done now and if so, how do you market something like that? For that matter, how do you build it? Whatâs the story, do you keep the politics in it, do you make it just one level – a lot like the âNo Russianâ mission in Modern Warfare 2?
I think thereâs a lot of discussion there and maybe one weâll really focus on in a future episode to get a better grasp on the subject and have more time to talk about it. Until then, however, weâd like to know your thoughts in the comments or feel free to email us what you think.
