What does it mean to be "blessed" and "meek"? How do we begin finding joy in the Truth of Christ? As Pastor Steve explains, the beatitudes point us in the right direction, toward becoming partners in God's work within a fallen world.

On Sunday, we celebrated the baptisms of Kaija and Marigold Loubert. In his message, Pastor Steve reminded us of just how significant our own baptisms have been and will continue to be, well into the future. While the world demands we prove ourselves through material gain and achievement, we know Christ offers something a little different. In seeking baptism from John, Jesus takes on the human and demonstrates his solidarity with everyone that entails—the poor, the other, the penitent, the sinner. All of us. May this sermon help you remember your own commitment to and solidarity with Christ, and to all with whom he stood.

We all remember the story of Zacchaeus the tax collector and his pursuit of and encounter with Christ—there's even a song that tells the story! But what we may have missed all those years ago in Sunday school were the stakes at the story's heart. Nobody, not even the most reviled community or public figure, is beyond God's grace. Not even a tax collector in Jericho two millennia ago could escape that grace when glimpsing it.
