Every year has ups and downs.

This year, the pendulum seemed to swing farther than usual in both directions.

In this episode, I break down the 10 things of 2021 that had the biggest impact and what I learned from each.

Discovering a sense of flow through the good things and the bad seemed to provide the overall story for the year.

Oprah tells the story of how every year at the beginning of the year she would pray for patience.

And every year bigger, more challenging obstacles would show up in her path.   Finally, it occurred to her to stop asking for patience and ask for peace.

There is a lot of wisdom in that advice.  But big journeys almost always involve rough terrain.  And the view on top of the mountain is always the most spectacular.

Why uncover your "Word of the Year" for 2022?

New Year's Resolutions never worked for me.

If I decided I wanted to do something, why should I wait until January 1st to start?

And there is as much chatter about abandoning resolutions as there is about keeping them.

Over the years I have looked on them more as something to create a forcefield of false drama around than something that actually moves people in the direction they want to go.

Four years ago, I choose my first truly effective word of the year, in a process similar to the one I walk through in the podcast.  Each year since I have fine-tuned the process.  And truths that I have uncovered have been more influential and directional than I could have ever imagined when I sat down that first time with pencil and paper in hand. 

The process, itself, taught me to ask for what I really want.

Not something I am good at.

I don't think many of us are.  Self-sacrifice is the moral nutrition I was raised on.

While I believe, with all my being, that my purpose here is to be of service in a capacity that serves the highest good of all of humanity.  I cannot do that without fully knowing myself and discovering my highest potential.

I have found so much information that I need to go forward in the process of discovering my word of the year.

I have found so much support and direction in having a word of the year.

If you are getting your house ready for the Holidays, more than likely you have to move some things around.

Am I right?

Does the air feel a little more electric when that happens?

It could be as big as a sofa or as small as a plant.  It still has an effect.

Big or small, what you are doing is creating a detour for the energy that weaves its way through your home or space.

Did you know that you could use the decorating that you do this time of year as a lesson in discovering the energetic flow in your home?

Understanding the energy flow, or Chi, is one of the tenets of Feng Shui.  I am no Feng Shui expert.

I know just enough to be dangerous!

But I am hyper-sensitive to energy.  

Good and bad.  It's one of the things that I love helping clients with.

We don't grow up learning about this.  So it can be a little hard to conceptualize.  You may even be one of those people who are skeptical that it even exists.  

But I KNOW, you wouldn't be here if you didn't feel the difference between being in a space that feels good and one the feels "off."

In this episode, I give you four very relatable analogies that, when combined, help you get a sense of what this energy is.
