In this episode of In Lockdown With... Ciaran chats to deaf actor Steph Back about her career. Steph studied Theatre, Arts Education and Deaf Studies at the University of Reading. Since graduating, Steph has worked extensively with Taking Flight Theatre Company, where she has appeared in productions such as 'Romeo and Juliet and 'You've Got Dragons.' Steph is also the lead facilitator at Taking Flight's Youth Theatre for deaf and hearing impaired children. Here Steph chats to Ciaran about her career so far! In this episode of 'In Lockdown With...' Ciaran chats to actor Sara Beer. Sara has worked extensively within the disability arts sector in Wales over the course of her career. As an actor, she has appeared in many plays by Kaite O'Reilly, including 'The D Monologues' and 'Richard III (Redux).' Sara also shadowed John E McGrath as an emerging director on 'In Water I'm Weightless,' by Kaite O'Reilly for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Sara currently works for Disability Arts Cymru as the South Wales Regional Officer, and supports disabled artists across South Wales in their careers in the arts.

In this episode, Ciaran chats to Newport based actor and writer Connor Allen. Since graduating from the University of Wales Trinity St David, Connor has appeared in productions by Taking Flight Theatre Company and Theatr Iolo. As a writer, Connor has been a part of new writing programs at the Royal Court Theatre and the BBC Wales Writers Room New Voices scheme. Connor's play 'Working not Begging' was set be performed at the Riverfront Theatre this spring, but was postponed due to Coronavirus. Here Connor chats to Ciaran about his career so far!

Nia worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company between 2010 and 2016, after studying at Guildhall Drama School she has been a voice and accent coach at the RSC, but also at Theatr Clwyd, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru and the Noel Coward Theatre in the West End. In this episode, Ciaran chats to Harry Bryant, an actor from Cardiff. Harry has been involved with many projects with Mess up the Mess over the last few years, notably Humanequin, a play which explored gender identity through the experiences of three transgender character. Harry also took part in the Hamlets project, also run by Mess up the Mess, where groups of young people came together to create a contemporary response to Hamlet. Ciaran chats to writer and artist Chloe Louise Lloyd from Medway in Kent. Chloe attended the University of South Wales where she attained a BA in Scriptwriting. She takes a very stylistic approach to her work, delving deeply into the human psyche. Recently she has written 'Walls' produced by Volition Theatre Company, an audio play which is available to listen to on Volition's website.  She is also the host of her own podcast 'Jolly Good Chat,' available on Youtube and Spotify. Here she talks to Ciaran about her inspirations and early career as a writer and artist!

Ciaran chats to playwright Dafydd James about his career. Daf's first play 'Llwyth' gained critically acclaim, and was groundbreaking for Welsh language theatre. Here Daf talks about his writing process, and also about his collaborative relationships with directors and script editors over the years. His play 'Tylwyth,' a follow-up to Llwyth recently toured by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, but was prematurely curtailed by the pandemic. Daf has also written for TV and Radio, he talks about the challenges of writing for different mediums!

Ciaran chats to writer Phill Brewer and director Rebecca Emily Riley, co-founders of 'Volition Theatre Company,' based in London. They talk to Ciaran about their time at the BRIT School in London, and then going on to form 'Volition.' 'Volition' have produced two of Phill's plays, 'Mercy' and 'Boot,' both at the Atrium Theatre in Cardiff. They have recently produced 'Walls,' an audio play by writer Chloe Louise Lloyd, which is now available to listen to on YouTube!

In this episode, Ciaran chats to Peri Thomas. Peri is an actor, originally from Pembrokeshire. After studying at Aberystwyth University she formed Mess up the Mess Theatre Company, with Sarah Jones, originally in Slough, then moving to Brynamman in Carmarthenshire. Peri worked with Mess up the Mess as an actor on several productions, but also youth arts manager, before moving on to run workshops with older people in care homes. Here she talks about her career in the arts!
