Front and center stage on all of our heart's and mind's are the people in the Houston Texas area! It's difficult to see such suffering take place. Today Pastor JD asks the age old question. Why does God allow these sorts of things to happen? If God is good...and we KNOW He is...why does He allow Hurricane Harvey's, and the like, to bring such devastation?

Their are times in life, where a struggle we come up against seems impossible to beat. Today, in 2 Chronicles, Pastor JD shares with us a story of Jehoshaphat, in which he is against impossible odds. Instead of succumbing to fear and giving up. Jehoshaphat looks to God and reminds himself of all the times God came through for him.

King Jehoshaphat was totally renewed in his commitment to God, and showed it by bring his nation into a new and powerful relationship to the Lord as well. But as Pastor JD points out in today's study, his call for revival would have been hollow if his own heart had not been changed first. We can never give to others what we do not possess ourselves.

God showed great kindness and grace to Jehoshaphat. After that, Jehoshaphat gave himself fully to the worship and glory of God in his Kingdom. As Pastor JD makes clear in today's teaching, it was God's mercy that caused him to throw himself into the work of the Lord. Recalling God's goodness is a powerful motivator for us to rekindle the flame of service for Him.

Jehoshaphat allowed himself to get manipulated into a bad situation by King Ahab. As Pastor JD shows us in today's teaching, it appears that Jehoshaphat realized his mistake, but was too afraid, or too proud to back out. Whether we're facing a temptation or a bad choice, there comes a time when all we should do is get as far away from it as possible.

We've all seen the videos on YouTube...a couple of people adding rubber bands one by one to a watermelon. Of course, after just the right amount of tension...the watermelon bursts and everyone is covered! Today Pastor JD likens the tension in the rubber band to the tension that's evident in the middle east. The nation of Israel is receiving pressure from all around.

Many churches today have abandoned sound biblical teaching in favor of eye-catching props and theatrical presentations with little or no basis in scripture. It's as though the life-changing power of God has been traded for the puny power of entertainment. Today, Pastor JD reminds us that where there is no presence of the Holy Spirit, there is no real church.

King Jehoshaphat made a hasty decision to join King Ahab in battle, but did not inquire of God first. Don't we do this ourselves? Even though the fate of a nation may not rest on our decisions, that of our loved ones might. Today Pastor JD exhorts us to not only pray, but to get a sure and specific answer.

King Jehoshaphat returned his nation to the scriptures and thus secured peace and prosperity for it. Sadly, in our country today we see just the opposite. Lawlessness, poverty and a multitude of other social ills choke the life and freedom from a once great nation whose leaders have abandoned God's word. Today Pastor JD asks, “Who then, will proclaim the truth?”
