March 25, 2013Interview with High ValleyAlberta Country trio HIGH VALLEY is made up of brothers Brad, Bryan and Curtis Rempel. Their current album features the popular singles Let It Be Me, Have I Told You I Love You Lately & Love You For A Long Time. "It's not as pop as some contemporary country," says Brad of the High Valley sound. "Our music is a little more organic, a little more acoustic. We grew up singing harmony as a family and in church. There was always harmony and acoustic instruments, so our live show features a mandolin, an acoustic guitar, a bass guitar and three part harmony." The siblings grew up in Alberta on a farm in the rural community of La Crete. Life on their farm was dominated by faith, family, hard work and lots of Country music. "We always heard Diamond Rio and Ricky Skaggs growing up," says Bryan. "George Jones was played a lot too." She credits her eclectic taste in music to her mother who introduced her to classic artists like Kitty Wells and Hank Williams Sr. as well as then-current hitmakers like Tanya Tucker, Keith Whitley and Patty Loveless. Jaida was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario and rasied in Latimer, Iowa. She began riding horses at a young age and won her first of many world championships at age 5!
