The car breezes down the highway as the aging CD changer is fueling the imagination of a young Carly Fratianne. She picks up another can of Red Bull and sips it as more vibrant, soulful lyrics awake in her mind.

"It was a real sweaty time," says Carly of being sandwiched between her brothers in the back of her dad's station wagon. "We would listen to old country records. That was probably my first real cathartic music moment."

Staring at the brand new life of his two-month-old, he was told he needed to "grow up." Josh Miller knew he had one more night of spray paint fun. Miller was a growing graffiti artist with a passion for creativity. Now, he had to find a different creative outlet.

Josh is one of the brains behind the ever-expanding 2x2 Hip Hop Festival in Columbus, Ohio - a platform and event for an often misunderstood genre and art form.

His child is in diapers and another baby is on the way soon. The reality of life is on his shoulders as he is on his knees, praying before God. For Mark Hunter, it seemed like a dead end. What he didn't know is that it was actually a new beginning.

Internet visionary Mr. Joel Treadway started a Columbus, Ohio music directory in the early 1990's.

Inspired by a discarded copy of Nirvana's "Nevermind," Joel says he and a friend created Cringe.com to keep track of the never-ending live music buffet in the Buckeye state's capital city. "With the web, we have a little more permanence. But, you also have a bit more noise out there, too," he says.

We hear a great story about a "Japanese noise band" and draw upon Joel's 30-years of experience in Columbus music.

"Middle school students are the best lyricists in the world," asserts Ben Shinabery, the executive director of The Dick & Jane Project. "It's true. The simple reason why is because they're going through puberty."

While said with some humor, Shinabery is very serious in his mission to deliver a unique educational experience for students in Columbus, Ohio.

The Dick & Jane Project collaborates with artists across the city and assists middle schoolers in songwriting, composition and more. Shinabery highlights songs and stories that seem simple. But, they have a lot of depth and meaning to the writer and audience.
