“In the Telling” is moving to a bi-weekly release schedule. With 21 episodes in Season 1 during 2019 and already over 30 more full length episodes added during season 2 in 2020 , I’m excited to release consistent content in a more easy to consume flow. You can expect two new episodes in November. “In the Telling” will take a season break in December and will be back in 2021 releasing episodes on the 1st and 15th of every month.

Show Notes:
Guest Erin Hayes gives a fabulous introduction to the paper art of quilling and shares how starting an art in quarantine has led her to a new talent and business.
Even though Erin still fights against feelings of Imposter Syndrome, she works on her art every day. She was interested in starting quilling almost twenty years ago, but it wasn’t until she got quarantined and picked up a simple little tool that she began her beautiful paper art. Erin began quilling when the pandemic forced her into quarantine and she missed camping in Utah’s beautiful red rock wilderness. Just a few months later and Erin is busy fulfilling commissions.

Guest Dylan Mazziotti, host of the Your Cre8tivity Podcast, talks about all aspects of creativity and gives a nice introduction to his show. Our conversation ranges widely over all things creative, including taking care of a good group of people who take care of you, how to find creative renewal, the importance of mentors and inspiration, tools for creation. Dylan, a natural introvert, has had his own personal life transformed by starting a podcasting where he interviews a wide variety of creatives. We also get into creativity in the time of Covid, challenges and opportunities and Dylan personally juggling the creativity of being involved in many things.

“In the Telling” is back from summer break in this special Labor Day episode with my guests from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, a union for backstage theatre workers. I spoke with Hope Bird and Allison Smartt who met with me over zoom in the social distancing of 2020 to talk with me about IATSE, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. We discuss the what’s, why’s, and how’s of the union and its local 99 chapter as well as the Red Alert Movement by workers in live event industries.

Actress Nadia Sine met with me over Zoom in the Stay-at-home social distancing of 2020 to talk with me about being a black actress in the predominantly white theatre industry. I saw her performance as Juliet in Sonder Immersive’s production of “Through Yonder Window,” and was captivated by the production and her performance. What Nadia and I sat down to discuss primarily was a topic that has recently risen to the top of the theatre industry conversation--the racism encountered by performers of color in theatre. There are fantastic resources and discussions on this topic in lots of corners of the public conversation, some of my favorites are listed below in the show notes. But like everything I’m interested in, I really wanted to have this conversation, one-on-one to help me process as I look at what I can do and should do and will do about institutional racism in my own theatre community.
