Along with being a successful restaurateur in the Houston area, Stan and his wife are are also drag racers, running most if not all of the NHRA Division 4 events.  The good news is that they are in different classes and have never had to meet each other in a final round.  Competition is tough out there,

One of the best things about a Tailpipes & Tacos event at the Katy location of Lupe Tortilla is the wide variety of vehicles and people that show up.
It was hard not to notice the bright red 1970 Chevelle SS convertible roll in with the top down.

Joining us in this episode of In Wheel Time Car Talk is Jud Holt, son of Stan and an integral part of the Lupe Tortilla family.  

Just so happens, like his father, Jud is an avid automotive enthusiast.  Along with collecting a few vehicles, he has been involved in the family sport of drag racing for some time.  Through a fortunate set of events, he is now getting involved in road racing, which is a lot different than the quarter mile challenges.

Fans of the Chevrolet square body pickups are really fans!

If you are a race fan, particularly road racing of any sort, a crash or the possibility of a crash is always present.  Every time it does happen, it is dissected to find out what happened, how it happened, and how can the driver be better protected.  Sooner or later the crash will happen.

In this book, author Jonathon Ingram looks at several aspects of safety development that basically shifted into high gear with the Aytron Senna crash in 1994 on up to the Dale Earnhardt crash in 2001.  Many of those developments have continued to develop more safety, but it all had to start some where.
