Just outside of Houston, sits a 2nd generation family preowned automobile business.  It is very successful, and the four brothers work daily at making it that way.  They grew up working in the business for 'dad', who taught them the work ethic to provide great customer service.  That same work ethic carries over into their race team as well!

In addition to a great resource for how the preowned market is doing, there is also Emmons Motorsports.   Again, growing up in the auto business and having a family involved in drag racing leads to more racers.  In fact, now all four brothers are involved with NHRA drag racing, and again, they are winners!  

Join us as we talk with Jerry Emmons about the business, where the market might be headed short term, and then we have to talk drag racing.  Jerry is great about talking at a level that even non-racers can work with regarding what he does to get ready to race.

If you have never been to a car auction, particularly any of the Mecum Auctions near you, then you have not seen one awesome car show!  You don't have to be a bidder, which is an event unto it'self that deserves to be watched.  But the real show may be in the 'parking area'.  

For Houston, this means almost 1,000 cars and trucks that you can get up and personal with.  Still shouldn't touch, but there are no barricades to keep you from looking underneath, or maybe looking a little deeper into the hood.  So much to see and do.

Don't take long, as a driver, to run across a road construction zone.  Sometimes it is a slow moving paint setup or maybe some new asphalt going down, but it is construction.  That means there are people there working, often without looking directly at the traffic because the have their cones, barrels, and sometimes a flagman watching over them.

We often take it for granted, wondering why we have to slow down when we are in a hurry.  Joining us today, with a lot of information, is Nate Smith, V.P. Engagement ATSSA.  That is the 'American Traffic Safety Services Association' for those of us that have never even thought about such things.

We get a chance to talk about different safety 'tools', how they are used, and how some of the training takes place to use those tools.  We also get a chance  to talk about some of the things under development for the safety of the workers as well as our own safety.

It is a really interesting conversation that we wish we would have had more time, but there will be another time.

The Lone Star Street Rod Association is a hot rod association for the State of Texas, or anyone else that wants to join in on the fun.  Each year, they have their state meet, with it being in Granbury, Texas, for the last few years.  

In 2022, we were able to join in on the fun with a remote broadcast from the event.  We saw a lot of great rides in a picturesque location and met a lot of great people.  One of those is Tammy Dooley, Grandbury CVB, who was one of our hosts.  

Very knowledgeable and personable, Tammy is here to let us know a little more about what we can expect for the 2023 event.

Can't say we have every found a car group, organization, or even a club that doesn't contribute to others.  Mostly it is a charity that the club raises funds for, or maybe works with underprivileged to bring a little joy to their lives with a parade or special car show. 

Another group that is looking to give back to the community is God's Garage, located in Conroe, Texas.  Their goal to help single moms without transportation - to work, to school, or even the grocery store.  It is a great story and Brad Thompson loves to share that story.

For some time now, we have talked about distracted driving being a major cause of accidents.  But there is more to being distracted than just the phone so April is now Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

PAINTHOUSE Tx is located just north of Houston and has become very well known for the paintwork that they turn out.  They have won numerous awards for paint and for overall builds.  In addition to doing some fantastic award winning work, they also 'create' paint - custom paint that they use and sell to other builders across the country.
