The stereotype of sperm donors often features college-aged males making extra money to anonymously contribute at sperm banks. But this episode features Mark Daniel Cross, a KNOWN sperm donor based in Florida - he and the women who may potentially use his sperm typically meet face to face - and Mark doesn't benefit financially from his efforts. This episode features Mark's responses to 19 questions sent to him back in November 2017 by a British university student named Holly who was researching the motivations of known sperm donors. Mark talks about why he donates, and how the phenomenon of using social media to find sperm isn't going away any time soon. Since this interview was recorded, Mark has worked successfully with 2 dozen additional women on their babies. Be aware that some of the subjects mentioned in this episode include, unavoidably, human reproduction, but also brief allusions are made to sexual orientation, the existence of transgender individuals, genitalia, and masturbation, among other subjects. This episode, and this subject, would definitely make some people uncomfortable.

I will always carry scars from the maternal incest, from the child sexual abuse I experienced. I accept that I will always have baggage, but for the first time since I was 7, I can honestly say that I feel like I, as a person, am not worthless. I do not believe I am trash anymore. I don't know what the future holds for me, but I feel optimistic, for the first time in a long, long time.

Just in the last month, I identified, at age 51, WHY I am convinced, WHY I emotionally "know" that I'm inherently unlovable and inherently worthless. I now am realizing that continuing to believe that is easily the biggest threat there is to my continued existence, and I'm urgently trying to find a way to change my self-perception that doesn't involve me sacrificing my autonomy to some religious authority or some supernatural being.
