WELCOME BACK, that goes for those of you who were here before and has listened to episode one with Amrinder Kaur. IF YOU HAVENT YOU SHOULD GO DO THAT TOO!!
Anyway, this episode was recorded with Paramjit Singh Dhadwal (AKA my dad), but before he was my dad he was a kabaddi player, a weight lifter and a barman and it's because of the sacrifices he made to find a better life that I sit here today in London writing this. I cannot at all say that we have the best relationship because that would be a lie, but over the years we have both taught each other a lot and I mean A LOT. I and my sisters educate him on climate change, and he educates us on the ways of the world, and at times we do actually listen to each other.
I wanted to record an episode with my dad because like many of our parents he was an immigrant here, he came here finding a good life for his family he wanted to find a place where we could all belong and I'm not going to lie I feel at home. For a long time, I felt like brown dads didn’t get the recognition they deserved for all they’ve done for their families and this is my very small way of trying to shine a light on the lives of our dads. To me, my dad is one of the most interesting people I know he's seen the world and had fun, something I also aspire to do one day.
BUT ANYWAY, both of us were really nervous going into this and this made me realise that I’ve never really sat down with my dad (by choice) and listened to what he has to say and ask him questions. I’d also encourage you guys to try and talk to your parents and careers about the lives they lived before you came along (I say this whilst sitting in a corner of my room) because I highly doubt they had a boring life.
BUT YEAH ENJOY AND IM SORRY ABOUT THE AUDIO QUALITY IM WORKING ON IT.
ENJOY!!!!
