In the new season of INDIscussion, Nadia gets into it about the mishandling of COVID by the Morrison 'Government' and the massive issues face by the Australian manufacturing industry. The Morrison 'Government' has a lot to answer for on both counts.

This episode Nadia talks with local rural GP and women's health advocate, Dr Rebecca McGowan, about the state of rural and regional healthcare, climate change and access to specialists in country Australia. As the second youngest of 14, Rebecca decided very early in life that she wanted to be a GP in the area she's from, the Indigo Valley north of Beechworth, Victoria. Rebecca still lives in the Indigo Valley and practices in Albury while also speaking globally on the impact of climate change on our health and women's health in country Australia. 

This week Nadia discusses her purpose and the Labor focus on vision and growing the country. There needs to be a re-setting of Australian politics to recalibrate and put the representation of each electorate in the context of the federal system. We are not just our electorates, or even our communities, but a nation, and our politicians need to be able to balance both roles - representatives and members of parliament. Leaders.

This week Nadia discusses the revelations she has had about what we want in our leaders and representatives - activism and representation. It is not enough to be elected, which is really just a popularity contest, a member of parliament must be connected with their constituents and fundamentally activist in their approach to issues. It is not enough to just write letters and have meetings - we must, as politicians, be activists to be effective representatives.

The Morrison Government is (no surprises) very on the nose and the closure of the Benalla Centrelink was an example of how out of touch the LNP is with regional, working class people.
