4:50 pm COVID put a crimp in people’s lives and threw a lot of workers out of their offices as fears mounted of the virus circulating in air conditioning ducts. The engineer in Sandeep Seth started thinking of ways to eliminate the virus in ducts and devised a circular diffuser which he calls “The Halo” that kills the virus passively. It’s first installation is in the eye catching Starbucks in Ketchum, Idaho. Sandeep joins us today to explain how The Halo works.

This also leads to related the diseases of diabetes, hypertension and CHF. A key to avoiding this is to suppress the appetite and weight loss, and many people turn to Bariatric surgery to tackle gross obesity. Dr Brandon Fadner with St Luke’s Health in Sugar Land joins us to explain how that procedure works.

4;50 pm We all can think of many inventions and discoveries that have changed our world, from the wheel to the cell phone, but there are some basic technologies that altered the way we live and evolved. Ashok Rao has spent a lot of time and thought researching them. He joins us today in the first of a series of six episodes to explain these, starting with the technology of glass.

5:20 pm Manpreet Singh, who also goes by Monica, is running in the race for Harris County Judge Civil Court at Law 4. She has been a practicing attorney for 20 years and has tried numerous civil rights cases. She is on the Board of the ACLU of Texas, The Texas Lyceum and the Sikh Coalition. We talk with her about her race and what makes her uniquely qualified to win the position.

4:20 pm October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and the Harris County District Attorney’s office is holding panel discussions and other events to bring attention to the issue which results in many needless injuries and deaths each year. Leeja Thomas is the Asst Director of Family Violence ServIces at the DA’s office and joins us today to share more about this terrible problem and what could be done to stem it.

5:00 pm Much of the history of India has been written from the perspective of the last two Empires that ruled a fragmented subcontinent: the Mughals and the British. Many of the heroic tales of kingdoms that sought their own independence and held back attacks from marauding forces has been lost. After his retirement, Kiran Ketkar has sought to correct this and narrate true facts of Maratha history. He joins us in the studio today to tell us about his book “Swarajya and Samrajya”.

5:20 pm This Diwali season several McDonald’s locations in the Dallas, Northern Virginia and the Chicago areas have decided to offer a unique drive-thru experience. In addition, McDonald’s has developed a digital profile for Diwali. They turned to New York City designer Megha Rao to develop rangoli designs for this campaign. Megha joins us by phone to explain more about this first-of-a-kind campaign.
