Furthermore, patients must complete the full course of prescribed antibiotics to ensure all bacteria are eradicated. The unnecessary use of antibiotics contributes to this resistance, highlighting the importance of taking them only when truly required. 

Ultimately, responsible antibiotic use by both prescribers and patients is essential to prevent the further development of drug-resistant infections.
