New information is emerging about the brutal crackdown on protests in Iran last month.

Recent analysis by BBC News Persian has found the regime used a range of weapons against protesters, including machine guns, sniper rifles and machetes.

The protests may have subsided, but tens of thousands of people remain detained. There are also reports of sweeping arrests of doctors who treated injured protesters.

Security forces have also arrested a number of prominent opposition politicians who condemned the government's deadly violence.
