Ink in Stereo episodes

  • Heavy Lights
Good evening everyone! Welcome to episode 29 of Ink in Stereo with Heavy Lights! This is a special episode, because from hear on out, full electric bands there will be! I’m so glad this band came in to kick off the new format because they sound just so good.
Heavy Lights came up from Frederick, MD to play live in our studio and chat a little bit. We talk about gear (and they’ve got a lot), writing together as a group as well as their upcoming shows and recordings they are working on. This was such a fun show since it was my first time mixing down a whole band and the challenges there in but they were just champs dealing with my crazyness. I hope you enjoy tonight’s episode as much as I did.

  • The Stars and the Sea

Episode 28 is here with Stars and the Sea from Baltimore, MD! I really dig this band and they were awesome enough to make the trip up here to play live in studio and talk a bit about music, writing and their upcoming album. I had a lot of fun with this episode since we are expanding here at Ink, getting more elec-tro-fied and amped up, and this band is one of my favorites from the Baltimore area. Stars and the Sea have multiple singles out and one album available online and are on various social type media platforms for you to follow; links below!

  • Soji

Soji is a singer and songwriter, and might I add a prolific one, who comes from York, PA. He’s on the show today to talk about his new album, his past five albums as well as trying to be a good person through all circumstances. I really enjoyed this episode as the songs and conversation were rich and fluid, not to mention it’s been awhile since I have had a musician on. Also, I need to apologize as the first bit of talking has a weird reverb I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from but nevertheless this was an amazing time. So enjoy episode 27 with Soji!

  • Al Sgro
Tonight on the show we have Al Sgro, a producer, composer and song writer out of L.A. He currently is the composer for Cougartown, produced for people like I don’t know, Gary Jules and A.D. Chandler, as well as working on composing for the Hex Hollow Documentary directed by Shane Free. There isn’t any music in this one but it doesn’t matter because this was an amazing episode. We chat about all this and more in episode 26 (I miscounted before this) with Al Sgro.

  • Shane Free – Hex Hollow

Ah the bonus episode, don’t you love them? I do, and this one is with Shane Free who’s directing the Hex Hollow documentary which is all about the Reymeyer hollow murder that happened in York Country in 1928. Shane is from the area but currently lives in L.A. and came back to finish up Hex Hollow and I asked him to come on the show to talk about it and such you know especially since a York artist’s song made it on the film (more in the episode.) In this episode we talk about history, witchcraft, scary things that go bump in the night, and the rigors of having a part-time yet full-time hobby-job.
In the picture above, he’s chilling with the author of “Trials of Hex” and you could say the catalyst of the documentary, J Ross McGinnis.

  • James McLaughlin
James McLaughlin came out to play on Ink in Stereo a few tunes of his live in studio. Today we talk about faith, writing influences, and his many moves until he settled where he is today. While he lives in Lancaster, he’s not a native but has been involved with a wide range of things from playing with Angela Walker to Water Street Mission. His music is emotional and his past pours through his voice so tonight’s show shouldn’t be missed.
You can find his music on Soundcloud.
