My guest is Anders from Foundry Ventures, a pre-seed investor in the Nordics who only backs AI companies.

He told me something he’s changed his mind on in the last 18 months, and it stuck with me.

He used to think AI was a big platform shift, but that company building stayed the same. Find product market fit, hire great people, follow the classic venture journey. He no longer believes that.

His view now: founders need to cooperate with AI to find the right problem, not just to build the solution. Because anything you figure out alone, a million other people got from the same prompt in ten seconds. The output is commoditized. The value is whatever you add on top of it.

And he practices what he preaches. He’s not an engineer, but he’s spent hundreds of hours building with Claude Code and Codex, because he believes you can’t invest in this space from the outside.

We also talked about why he thinks today’s companies will employ far fewer people within a few years, and why the answer is launching millions of small new companies going after problems nobody could solve before.

His advice for everyone, from founders to taxi drivers to his own kids: use the tools. That’s the only way to be part of this shift.

In this episode, I sit down with Peter Bruce-Clark, an impact-focused venture capitalist and partner at Social Impact Capital in New York and Conduit Connect in London. Peter took an unusual road into venture. He studied literature and philosophy, ended up doing research at Stanford on how to generate impact through investment vehicles, and tried to launch an AI fund in the early 2010s, before OpenAI existed, back when he was meeting people like Dario Amodei and Demis Hassabis and nobody wanted to fund a thesis that was simply too early.

We talk about what AI is actually good for beyond the hype: drug discovery, advanced materials, simulations that run a thousand times faster than a room full of PhDs. Peter describes AI as a cognitive exoskeleton, something that extends what he can do without replacing his capacity to imagine, which he still believes is the most human thing we have. We also get into the uncomfortable parts. What happens to the humans in the loop when robotics arrives. Why he gets angsty about where value accrues over time. And why he thinks that after two decades of a speculative meta economy, people are about to rediscover the real one.

His advice to young people is refreshingly simple: experiment, play, and learn for learning’s sake. Not the grind. The Socratic version.
