don Jose Ruiz is a shaman, author, speaker, and son of the best-seller spiritual author don Miguel Ruiz (The Four Agreements).
From a very young age don Jose was guided by many teachers present in his life including, his mother and father, his grandmother Sarita, and several other Naguals. Through masterful guidance by his teachers and amazing life experiences with precision synchronicity, Jose came to 'silent knowledge'; he witnessed the world as it is, without any story.
In his early twenties, don Jose lost his eyesight. In his process of surrendering, he learned the value of learning to listen; to listen to his inner wisdom and integrity and to see different perspectives, while knowing nothing is personal. He had a renewed love and gratitude for life ~ and he found acceptance, happiness and abundance; he found bliss. He grasped a true understanding of faith, love, gratitude and humility. Through his surrender and faith, in concert with modern medicine Jose recovered his eyesight.
Like his father, combining new insights with ancient wisdom, don Jose Ruiz is dedicating his life to sharing the ancient Toltec wisdom by translating it into practical, everyday life concepts that promote transformation through truth, love and common sense.
don Jose Ruiz collaborated with his father don Miguel Ruiz on a followup book that offers a fresh perspective on the Four Agreements, and a powerful new agreement for transforming our lives into our personal heaven: The Fifth Agreement.
don Jose's most recent book, The Wisdom Of The Shamans, shares some of the most popular stories from his family's oral tradition, and offers corresponding lessons that illustrate the larger ideas within each story.
Clare R. Johnson, PhD, is the leading expert on lucid dreaming. She has a PhD from the University of Leeds on using lucid dreams as a creative tool (the first doctoral work in the world to explore this topic), is a lifelong lucid dreamer herself, and is President of the International Association for the Study of Dreams. Her books include Mindful Dreaming and Llewellyn's Complete Book of Lucid Dreaming.
Lucid dreaming is knowing that you are dreaming while you are dreaming. Lucid dreams happen while the body is asleep but the dreamer becomes mentally alert enough to realise, 'I'm dreaming this!' This realisation enables the dreamer to guide the dream, go with the flow, or observe events with full conscious awareness.
Dreams can help you heal your fears, resolve emotional issues, and connect to your deepest spiritual truths, but only if you take the time to learn how to communicate with them effectively. Lucid dreaming is a powerful way of engaging mindfully with your dreams to solve problems, improve your relationships, and discover who you are at the most profound level.
In this discussion we talk about how to lucid dream, how to interpret what you see there, and what you need to do to realise some of the incredible insights that this technique can give.
Deborah Rozman, Ph.D., is the President and CEO of HeartMath, the leading research body in the field of heart mind connection.
Founded in 1991 by Doc Childre, HeartMath has spent nearly 30 years researching and developing a system of effective, scientifically based tools and technologies to bridge the intuitive connection between heart and mind and deepen our connection with the hearts of others.
Most of us have been taught in school that the heart is constantly responding to "orders" sent by the brain in the form of neural signals. However, it is not as commonly known that the heart actually sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart.
Moreover, these heart signals have a significant effect on brain function – influencing emotional processing as well as higher cognitive faculties such as attention, perception, memory, and problem-solving. In other words, not only does the heart respond to the brain, but the brain continuously responds to the heart.
HeartMath research has demonstrated that different patterns of heart activity (which accompany different emotional states) have distinct effects on cognitive and emotional function. During stress and negative emotions, when the heart rhythm pattern is erratic and disordered, the corresponding pattern of neural signals traveling from the heart to the brain inhibits higher cognitive functions. This limits our ability to think clearly, remember, learn, reason, and make effective decisions.
In contrast, the more ordered and stable pattern of the heart's input to the brain during positive emotional states has the opposite effect – it facilitates cognitive function and reinforces positive feelings and emotional stability. This means that learning to generate increased heart rhythm coherence, by sustaining positive emotions, not only benefits the entire body, but also profoundly affects how we perceive, think, feel, and perform.
In this discussion we talk about heart rate coherence, heart rate variability (HRV), and simple tools and techniques you can do find get into touch with your heart.
Debbie Rozman leads a free monthly heart meditation called The Add Heart Call. Learn more about it at HeartMath.com/AddHeartCalls.

Now a certified bereavement counselor, Mirabai helps other mourners harness the transformational power of loss.

My guest this week is Eric Zimmer, host of The One You Feed podcast, named Best iTunes Podcast in 2014 and called "one of the best health podcasts of all time" by The Huffington Post. The One You Feed has been listened to over 10 million times.
Growing up in Ohio, Eric's life took a hard turn and began to spin out of control. He eventually found himself at 24 addicted to heroin and alcohol, living in a van and struggling to make sense of the world. After years living in an ever-darkening place, though, he was able to tap into a hidden well of strength, get help, get clean and rebuild his life.
His journey into addiction was not yet over. Believing he could go from clean and sober to casual use, he found himself spiralling back into that place of despair. But this time realized he'd have to make bigger, longer-lasting change, accept certain truths about who he was and create a way to perpetually "feed his good wolf, not his bad one."
Along the way, he rebuilt his life, relationships, and career and found solace and fulfilment in, believe it or not, podcasting.
Eric has also spent the last 20 years coaching on how to make positive and lasting behaviour change in their lives. In this conversation we tried to sift through all of the personal development tools and advice out there to get into:

Will Williams is one of Europe's leading Vedic meditation experts and founding teacher at Beeja Meditation, a London meditation centre committed to sharing the teachings of Vedic Meditation.
He discovered meditation 11 years ago after experiencing stress-related insomnia. When he spoke to a friend whose life had been transformed by Beeja meditation, he gave it a go. He now dedicates his life to sharing the practice.
To begin with he travelled for two and a half years meeting with meditation masters from across the world, receiving training from the pre-eminent master of ancient vedic knowledge, from which the Beeja technique derives. He discovered beyond rituals and rites of passage, the most powerful techniques were the simplest. It just required the right teaching.
Will's best-selling book 'The Effortless Mind' has been described as 'game-changing'. He speaks regularly at summits and events across the world, and has been featured by The Times, The Guardian, Daily Mail, Sky News and the Evening Standard. He is the current wellbeing adviser to the OECD.
In this episode we speak about the raft of meditation apps and modalities on offer, how each works, and how to pick the best one for you. Specifically covering:

Consensus is a song writer, mc, rapper, producer, poet, video editor and the founder of A/V Revolution . He studied as an engineer at degree level and was never musically trained, but attributes the large majority of his artistic talent to his synesthetic ability to 'see' music and concepts among other things.
In 2016/2017 he was invited to the particle physics research facility CERN as part of their creative outreach project, to turn their latest research into music for a mass audience.
His 2017 album ConCERNed bridges the gap between music and particle physics and has been covered in the media on London Live Television, BBC Radio, Ethiopia's EBC, The Voice Newspaper and Influential blogs.
Through this project he has also given talks & shows at the world famous Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, Fermilab, Ontario Science Centre and prestigious institutes such as John Hopkin's University (US), Cambridge and Oxford University in the UK.
Following on from the success of ConCERNed, Consensus has been featured on FT.com, BBC World Service and BBC Radio 1 Xtra performing and talking about the project and how particle physics can teach lessons through hip hop.
In this episode we talk about what's been discovered at CERN, how he reflects on the nature of reality, science vs. faith, the utility of both, and how it's all just about appreciation vs explanation.
