At last an episode about a much sought after topic - relationships :)
To tackle this behemoth I invited on one of the foremost spiritual authors in the world - Guy Finley - to speak about his new book Relationship Magic.
At the centre of his book is the idea that relationships are mirrors for our own lives, that all conflict exists to teach us, and that things break down when we don't take radical ownership of our own projections.
He argues the #1 reason why relationships fail is that they are built upon a form of love that you are intended to outgrow.
Said differently, the initial love that brings two people together isn't intended to be the love that holds it together.
Sure, it's quite possible that the initial attraction and desire will remain, even as the relationship progresses. But it makes very little difference because it's an altogether higher form of love that is intended to become the foundation of that relationship.
Now think for just a moment what this means. It means you don't have to struggle to restore your relationship to the way it felt before things got tough. There's another way.
In this episode we cover:

The Science of Epigenetics is the study of how DNA dynamically interacts with the environment and the driving force behind how our DNA activates and expresses.
Epigenetics assists us to understand the way in which our environmental cues impact not only our genes but also the genes of our prospective descendants. This emerging field of science validates that it is no longer a question about nature vs nurture, rather it is the dynamic interaction between the two that creates the outcome.
David Krantz specializes in genetic interpretation and explores how a person can maximize their personal potential by studying the nuances of their unique genetic make up. In this episode, he discusses the latest epigenetic research, explores the mind-body relationship with health, how varying genetic signatures may effect diet, and the implications of both THC and CBD.
Diego Perez is a poet, philosopher, writer, thinker, and speaker better known as @yung_pueblo.
You may know his poetry from Instagram. Deceptively simple, his words are deeply impactful, and have recently been compiled into a book, Inward.
Diego has been heavily inspired by Vipassana meditation (attending multiple 10-day silent meditation retreats per year). Now, he credits his meditation practice with showing him the missing piece in creating lasting, meaningful, social change.
One of my favourite conversations of the year so far.

The Law Of Attraction is probably one of the most well-addressed topics of the New Age, and yet mastering it still remains elusive.
Since the popular film 'The Secret', hundreds of writers have filled the gap on the 'how' of attraction, leaving the landscape somewhat confusing.
This week I spoke with the Expectation Coach Larry Armstead III who's new best-selling book takes a different tact. It's not the Law Of Attraction we need to be aware of, it's the Law Of Expectation.
It's what you expect that manifests.
In this episode we covered:
Larry's book is amusingly titled Where's My Pizza?
Sex addiction.
Some people don't think it's a real thing.
Others conjure up images of creepy men in trench coats at playgrounds.
Other people see it as an aspiration. "Too much sex? I'd love to have THAT problem…"
Up until five years ago, Dominick Quartuccio, didn't think about it too much either. A blistering success in corporate America, he only started to question himself as his desires led to the tragic breakdown of his relationship.
Determined to face things head on, he went through intensive therapy, 4 years of sex addicts anonymous, and a whole raft of inner work to go deeper into understanding the condition.
Now, in one of his first public interviews, we talk about the making of a sex addict.
In this incredibly courageous discussion, Dominick helped make sense of:
- the events and conditions of his early years that created a secret private life - his private and public lives that he helped apart for decades - the collateral damage to the relationships in his life - what it was like going to his first 12 step meeting - the underlying problems we face for men, women, and wider society
Men - If you've ever felt elements of your sex life are secretive, chaotic, wrong, burdened by guilt/shame or escalating in a troublesome way… I think you'll will find many answers, comfort and relief in Dom's story.
Women - If you've ever been with a man who seems sexually/emotionally/intimately distant, and you can't seem to penetrate his walls, context aplenty can be found here.
Raj Jana is the founder of JavaPresse, a lifestyle brand that transforms ordinary coffee rituals into extraordinary daily experiences. He's been mentored by some of the world's most inspiring leaders and hosts the weekly show, Stay Grounded, to help listeners achieve more happiness in daily life.
His story is a fascinating and familiar one:
Raj Jana, was like millions of other graduates. Fresh out of college with a large student debt and even bigger ambitions, Raj was itching to climb the corporate ladder and make a name for himself.
So he worked his tail off and clocked up long hours in a constant race to the next promotion – because that's how you feel happy, successful, and accomplished, right?
Then overnight, his outlook changed. Out of the blue, Raj's mentor died – just three months short of retirement.
Jerry had been living for that moment – dreaming of his post-work life where he could devote himself to his woodturning passion. But that opportunity never came for Jerry, and this was a big wake-up call for Raj.
With one life to live, Raj knew he couldn't afford to push off things he loved to a future that wasn't guaranteed. So he embraced a 'now or never' attitude and jumped. He chose to spend more time doing work that spoke to his soul – so he started JavaPresse to make an impact and spread a message he believed in.
A couple of years and 100,000+ customers later and the business is a multi-million dollar success and the home of a new coffee revolution that puts ritual, presence, and gratitude, at the heart of coffee and life enjoyment.
Now moving into speaking, teaching, and podcasting, you can catch him every week on the Stay Grounded podcast.
Just back from a month-long road trip in the US and a very special experience participating in a traditional Native American sweat lodge ceremony.
Lasting for 5 hours, the ritual was an epic opportunity to reconnect with myself and mother Earth whilst purifying the mental and emotional body.
This time round I took my buddy Chris along for the adventure to see what he would make of the sweat bonanza.
Both of us were blown away by beauty of the ritual, the reconnection to Earth, and the deepening of our friendship through the experience.
With a handful of gaffes in ceremony etiquette (all me of course), I recount the experience in this week's podcast.
If you want to detox your mind and body of past memories, challenges and issues, this is something I'd strong recommend.
Brahma Kumaris is a worldwide spiritual movement dedicated to personal transformation and world renewal. Founded in India in 1937, it has spread to over 110 countries on all continents and has had an extensive impact in many sectors as an international NGO.
However, their real commitment is to helping individuals transform their perspective of the world from material to spiritual. It supports the cultivation of a deep collective consciousness of peace and of the individual dignity of each soul.
Marina Cavic is one of the leading figures at the BKs and the head of its Bosnian operations. In this Spotlight episode she shares insights into the importance of spirituality, and how it has the power to change our consciousness, our lives and the world we live in.
The research is well documented on happiness. Make friends, keep them, exercise, spend time outdoors, keep your life simple, enjoy.
And yet... so often, things in life can cause us to go off the rails or indeed we just find ourselves in a rabbit hole of neutrality.
In this week's podcast we went past the ordinary conversation on happiness and spoke about to trouble shoot the problem more robustly. Some of the answers might surprise you.
Enjoy!Does the power of imagination hold the key to achieving peak performance?
According to entrepreneur, author, and elite performance advisor Todd Herman, the answer is resoundingly yes.
For over 20 years, Todd has advised some of the best athletes, entrepreneurs and business leaders in the world on how to get the most out of themselves.
The answer? Adopting an alter-ego. Whether it's Superman, Batman, Wonderman, or any other inspirational avatar, using these imaginary icons at the right time can transform your thoughts, beliefs and behaviours in every area of your life.
Now published in his new book The Alter-Ego Efffect, in this episode we talk all about the science and the psychology of finding your inner superhero and what you can do to bring this tool for transformation alive in your life.
