Ruby Warrington is a British writer and thought leader in 'now-age' spirituality. Formerly Features Editor at the UK Sunday Times Style magazine, in 2012 she launched The Numinous, a cosmic lifestyle platform that speaks to all things "new age" for life in the Now Age.
Her wonderful book 'Material Girl, Mystical World' weaves together a lot of spiritual wisdom into kind of a modern day spiritual survival guide for millennials and really helps balance out the material and soulful in life.
More recently she's just completed her next book – Sober Curious – which follows her inspiring journey to sobriety and what it really means to become sober and live a drink-free, happy and liberated life.
Its a journey I've been on myself and struggled with and I know a lot of other people probably want to try to reduce their intake or become fully sober.
In this talk we jumped deep into that to figure out answers that can help everyone looking to go sober.
Nick Mulvey is someone who's been at the top of my Spotify playlists for years now and someone I've followed right from his early EPs back in 2014.
His debut album First Mind was an amazing release that got a Mercury Prize nomination but its his second album – Wake Up Now – released last year that really showed a big shift in his personal vulnerability and willingness to address deep issues.
The album explores a lot of really profound topics on what it means to be human and what it means to be truly alive. Talking about themes like awakening, being present, being mindful and our response to the refugee crisis.
It was a big departure from some of the safer territory of traditional singer-songwriters and showed both a big step in terms of personal vulnerability but also trailblazing a way into more conscious music making.
In this talk we spoke about what was going on inside his head between the albums, what that journey of ever deeper personal vulnerability in the music is like, and how he feels now its come out.
Probably one of my favourite interviews. In it we talk all about how ordinary life can feel like living in the matrix and what we can do to break out of it.
Shaman Durek is a 3rd generation Spirit Shaman – a spirit hacker – who works with all sorts of people from CEOs to royal families to Hollywood celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow.
Most importantly though he is just supremely committed to activating the best inside people, bringing out their light and life force.
Jamie Catto is a rare breed of individual.
Starting life as a founding member of the DJ supergroup Faithless, he left to form the TV and film production company 1 Giant Leap which was double Grammy nominated for its films exploring interconnectedness and community around the world.
Following his experience there he really started to look deeply into what it is that can hold people back from living out their full potential in life.
Now he dedicates himself to running workshops that help people let go of their limiting beliefs and use playfulness and fun to unleash their full creative potential. As he likes to say, turn your 'enemies into your employees'.
In this talk we went deep into learning where our fears come from, why they actually help us, and how we can transform them to enrich our lives.
Dee LoveHolder is a truly wonderful soul.
One of those people full of love and light and totally committed to helping others.
She is the co-founder of Urban Avatars - an organization dedicated to bringing mixed spiritual arts to the world, which she co-runs with her husband Felix.
She spent her 20s travelling a great deal and learning a whole host of spiritual healing modalities. She's trained in everything under the sun from yoga, to theta healing, hypnobirthing, and running cacao ceremonies.
At the centre of this work she places a deep focus on creating healing and empowering spaces, particularly to help women to heal and thrive.
She's doing amazing work supporting women in London through her ceremonies and teaching.
Anna Murray is one of the co-founders of the awesome company Patternity and is someone who loves to explore patterns and the hidden role they play in our minds and in our lives.
Patternity started out nearly 10 years ago now as a simple blog sharing images comparing these patterns from things as unusual as smarties to window wipes to garden fences.
The project seemed to tap into people's deep desire to find and make sense of these little maps of meaning in our lives and partnering up with Grace Winteringham they started up full time and now create patterns for major brands like John Lewis, Vogue and the BBC.
What's really awesome is they've been looking more deeply into the wellness aspect of patterns recently and how they can promote mindfulness, stillness and a sense of connection as we learn to look around and feel a sense of intimacy with our surroundings once more.
Like me Anna went through corporate-life and also a downturn in wellbeing which we talk about in the episode and for me makes her journey into Patternity all the more inspiring.
If you're in the social justice space you may already know Kate Werning for she is the host of the incredibly powerful and successful Healing Justice Podcast which helps connect people in the space with practices and resources that help nourish and revitalise in these challenging times we're in.
The thing I love about Kate is she is just 100% at service. Whether its in her yoga teaching, providing the Healing Justice platform or her consulting work for major political and social justice campaigns, she is in it to help out constantly.
She's also wonderfully articulate and thoughtful about the current political and social climate, which we jump into in the show.
Listen out in this episode for great guidance and practices for you at home to try out to keep yourself feeling vital and your sanity in check in this current political climate!
If you're into yoga you probably know Bali is one of the top spots in the world to practice and its epicentre if there is one is Ubud.
At the centre of that is the world-renowned Yoga Barn, a truly epic space that has become something of a mecca not just for yogis but all sorts of spiritual seekers looking to explore breathwork, dance and meditation
When you first see it you can't help be impressed but I know it all started with humble beginnings and one of the co-founder's own hero's journey from corporate world through yoga and into service.
Charley Patton is one of three co-founders in The Yoga Barn and a real gem of a human being.
He's followed his truth and blazed an amazing path to create a wonderful oasis in Bali. His humility and wisdom is really inspiring.
I caught up with to understand what it was that drove him to do it, how he has navigated the challenges over the years, and what you can do to make your dreams become a reality as well.
Adam Wilder's passion is in bringing people together, to improve human connection across the globe.
The inventor of silent speed dating, he's come out with a string of wonderful, creative ways to connect people, from clowning in nature to hot tubs on the riverbank in London.
Most recently he's been killing it with a new festival for human connection called Togetherness which is an absolute must to check out if you want an experience like no other.
The thing I love about Adam is his goal is just so pure, to bring down the barriers between people and help them realise that we're all ultimately the same.
He's unashamed, unafraid, bold and creative. A true visionary for our time.
Stephen Reid is the Founder of the UK's Psychedelic Society, an amazing organisation advocating for the conscious use of psychedelics in the UK.
It is currently campaigning for the rescheduling of psilocybin (that's magic mushrooms) to treat people with depression.
Since I took my own excursion down to Peru a couple of years ago to take ayahuasca I've been fascinated about the healing properties of psychedelics.
When I was down there I saw so much amazing healing and revelation that now I see the ceremonial and proper usage of psychedelics as such a vital thing for many people.
I find its always really interesting to talk about psychedelics with people because it brings up so many different perspectives and opinions, especially when there is relatively little info out there.
So I wanted to ask Stephen all about his perspective, what the real deal on psychedelics is, and whether its all a government conspiracy to keep us under control.
See what you think!
