Galatians 5:16-26
A sweet, crunchy apple ... luscious strawberries on pound cake ... a ripe juicy melon ... a handful of wild berries ... if you are like most people, you love fruit. Well, God loves fruit too – specifically, He loves to see the fruit of the Holy Spirit showing forth in the lives of His redeemed people.
Joel 3
Joel prophesied about the valley of decision, where all the peoples and nations of the earth will be gathered for God's final judgment in the Day of the Lord. The day of the Lord in the valley of decision will reveal His ultimate and final decision about the eternal destiny of every person – but until that day, we are to go to all the nations proclaiming the day of the Lord’s salvation.
Joel 3
Many people would automatically consider jealousy to be a sin – but the Bible declares that our God is a jealous God. He is jealous for His name, His glory, His Word, and His people. It is that jealousy for His people that compelled Jesus to go to the cross to save those who belong to Him. How is this holy jealousy of God displayed for us in the book of Joel?
Joel 2:28-32
Many families and schools practice fire drills, to train everyone to know and follow an escape route in case of emergency. The great and terrible Day of the Lord as prophesied by Joel is coming upon everyone throughout the whole earth – but God has made one single escape route from the divine judgment that will befall the human race.
1 Corinthians 15:50-58
Jesus went to the cross to save His people from their sins, to purchase his church with His own blood, and to destroy the works of the devil and even death itself. Join Dr. Harry Reeder on InPerspective as he examines these three intertwining purposes that Jesus fulfilled in his crucifixion.
Joel 2:28-32
You should call 911 if you are in danger and need to be rescued. But if you recognize that you are in spiritual danger and need to be rescued from eternal condemnation, you must call upon the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. They were written centuries apart, but Joel 2:32 and Romans 10:13 both declare, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Joel 2:18-32
Acts chapter 2 describes the birth of the New Testament church. On the Day of Pentecost, Peter preached a powerful sermon that converted thousands, declaring the prophetic fulfillment of Joel chapter 2. This was Joel's divine prophetic prologue anticipating God's twofold divine promise fulfilled by His threefold divine process of salvation and deliverance.
Joel 2:18-32
A promise is only as good as one's ability to actually fulfill it. In Joel chapter 2, we see a twofold divine promise to God's ancient covenant people – that He will restore them and reconcile them to Himself. The Lord actually fulfills it through a divine process broken down into three glorious acts of God's salvation and deliverance.
Joel 2
Imagine you are daydreaming or sleepily nodding off … suddenly someone blows a trumpet in your ear! That would certainly wake you from your stupor and immediately focus your attention on the trumpeter. Joel chapter 2 shows us how the trumpet call of the Lord wakes us up, focuses our attention back on Him, and calls us to respond with repentance and passionate worship.
Joel 2
In the army, when the trumpet sounds at dawn, soldiers must wake up and give full attention to their duties. God's covenant people had become so secure and complacent in their military and financial prowess, they had fallen asleep spiritually and forgotten the Lord. Joel chapter 2 sounds a trumpet call to wake up and turn their full attention to the Lord.
