Enfield, England, 1977: an array of phenomena effect the Hodgson family and are witnessed by the Maurice Grosse and Guy Lyon Playfair of the Society for Psychical Research, Ed Warren, and others.  The events would go on to inspire various films and dramas.

In 1945, the body of 74 year-old Charles Walton was found near to the village of Lower Quinton, England.  His throat slashed, a pitchfork pinning him to the frozen ground, and a deep cross carved into his chest.  Despite the arrival of the foremost detective of the day, the crime remains unsolved and, possibly as a result of the apparent reluctance of locals to discuss the crime or Walton, there are many notions that suggest the crime was of a ritual nature.  Was Walton a wizard or a witch -- the crime enacted so as to bring an end to some perceived maleficia? Henry Howard Holmes (born Herman Mudgett, May, 1861) was a privileged youth who undertook medical training at the University of Michigan.  Despite being born into relative wealth, Holmes continually schemed to defraud insurance companies -- often by portraying cadavers from the university as accident victims and claiming the life insurances.  H H Holmes is most famous however as the creator of Chicago's 'Murder Castle' where he killed numerous victims within the walls of the purpose built building.  

In addition to being the United State's first documented serial killer, Holmes may also be amongst the most prolific with possibly hundreds of victims.  Adding to the mystery is a period of time where Holmes was possibly present in London - during the exact time of the Jack the Ripper murders and there is evidence to support the hypothesis that Holmes was possibly the Ripper...
