    AFIMSC Commander, Major General Bradley Spacy, toured the Hurricane Michael-ravaged Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, recently. In this short video, the damage from Hurrican Michael is evident but the mission of the Air Force Civil Engineer Center's "Battle Ready, Built Right" pushes through as recovery efforts provide what is needed to support the Air Force and the Warfighter.

  • The 2018 U.S. Air Force Design Awards Presentation
    The Air Force Civil Engineer Center announced the winners of the 2018 Air Force Design Awards, recognizing eight innovative projects for excellence in design and efficiency.
    “These award-winning projects exemplify the Air Force’s commitment to partnering with industry to deliver quality, mission ready facilities,” said Col. Scott Matthews, AFCEC Facility Engineering director. “These designers optimized and balanced functionality, cost-efficiency, sustainability and aesthetics.”
    Two award levels were given this year: the Honor Award, which is the highest achievement, followed by the Merit Award.
    “When assessing a project, we ask jurors to emphasize cost control, energy efficiency, functionality and sustainability,” Duncan said. “These outstanding designs set the bar high and help inspire future innovation, leading to continual design improvement and success.” Awards will be formally presented to the winners Nov 14, 2018, during the AFCEC Design and Construction Partnering Symposium in San Antonio.

  • Task Force Phoenix aids in Hurricane Michael recovery of Tyndall AFB
    After Hurricane Michael caused major damage to Tyndall Air Force Base on October 10th, 2018, officials worked quickly to get the critical missions back up and running as soon as possible. Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center demonstrates through their special initiative called "Task Force Phoenix" a large part of the recovery process for Tyndall AFB. NOTE: AFIMSC Vice-Commander, Col. Pat Miller, has been leading "Task Force Phoenix" since shortly after Hurricane Michael.
