Oculus Quest 2 is surely going to be a game changer for bringing VR to the masses but is Facebook going to block it’s success with it’s lousy corporate image and abundantly abusive data collection? It’s a bitter sweet moment for new VR adopters after they unbox their new quest only to find they have to login with a facebook account to even use it. As for the rest of the show, video game news is our business and business is booming! Just in, this week on another edition of the Inside Gaming Podcast; Amazon shut down development on Crucible, Microsoft is cutting GameStop in on digital sales, Microsoft released a list of 30 Series X optimized games for launch, and Star Citizen is celebrating 8 years of development.

The PS5 is huge! Sony did their own teardown of the newest PlayStation and it was awesome. Japanese reviewers also got their hands on the PS5 and they reported that the next-gen console is extraordinarily quiet. That’s fun. Meanwhile, on the other side of console mountain, Nintendo is fighting a legal battle over the dreaded Joy-Con drift. Apparently, their lawyers said, “it ain't’ that bad, get over it or get gud.” Okay, that’s not what they said at all but you could imagine, right? Lastly, the gang talks about China’s hold on free speech in video games and all the censored words in Genshin Impact. Make sure to stick around for listener questions and have a great Friday!

Nintendo announced their next big fighter to the Super Smash Bros Ultimate roster and it is none other than Minecraft Steve! And also Alex, Enderman, and Zombie. But mostly Steve! In the announcement video, Masahiro Sakurai seemed more than a bit upset at the addition, even throwing Nintendo itself under the bus hinting they almost forced him to do it!

Cyberpunk 2077 developers CD Projekt Red has repeatedly stated they would not be forcing crunch on their employees. Well a year later, it’s all a lie! In a recent statement, and with much regret, the studio heads announced that for the next six weeks leading up to the launch of the game everyone would be pulling six-day work weeks to get the game across the finish line.

The Xbox Series X is in the hands of some lucky industry folks and we now know just how fast it is at running last generation games. And it is very very fast. But is this enough to convince everyone to upgrade to the new hardware over Sony’s PlayStation 5?

Speaking of Sony, Insomniac Games announced that they had recast the facial motion capture actor for Peter Parker in their upcoming remaster of the PlayStation 4 hit Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PlayStation 5. Fans, of course, were not happy about this at all!

Xbox announced their plans to purchase Bethesda this week and surprised the entire industry to its core. Of course, the big news has us wondering… Will past and future games be locked to the Xbox Series X or the Xbox Series S in the near future? Will the next Skyrim or Fallout be playable on PS5? We’re taking a look at all those questions and more this week on Send News!

If the Bethesda buy out wasn’t enough, the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S pre orders went live on Tuesday and despite some subtle jabs from Phil Spencer and Xbox twitter it went about as well you’d expect - which is to say, not much better or worse than the PS5 pre order chaos. Speaking of the PS5 it’s also been reported that there were quite a bit fewer PS5 Digital Edition models available for pre order than the standard PS5 model.

Another surprise story this week hit just yesterday when Amazon announced that it will be joining the cloud gaming market with it’s new subscription service Luna. Set to hit iOS and and all your other favorite mobile devices Amazon hopes to take on Stadia and xCloud.

Last but not least our final story is about a potential breach that could effect hundreds of thousands of Activision accounts and Call of Duty players. Many complaints have been surfacing about hacked accounts and credentials being swapped. Activision’s official word is that reports of a security breach so far have been inaccurate but it might be time to change that password just in case.

PS5 pre order fever has hit the internet! Excited fans are taking digital retail outlets like Walmart and Target by storm as they buy up every PS5 the moment they become available. It’s not particularly a bad problem to have if you are Sony but if you’re looking to play Miles Morales or Demon’s Souls on a PS5 at launch you might have to work for it a little. While trying to get a PS5 preorder has been complete chaos pretty much since the price and launch date was announced - Microsoft is boasting about a simultaneous worldwide launch and scheduled preorders. Only time will tell if Xbox will come through with those promises but in the meantime the Xbox Series S has taken a bit of heat this week. According to Microsoft themselves, the next gen budget console will only be playing last gens versions of cross-gen games. Less eloquently put, the Xbox Series S will only play Xbox One S versions of current gen games. That means you can play better versions of current gen games on last gen hardware… the Xbox One X. That of course means you won’t be getting any of the “enhanced for Xbox Series X” upgrades on the Series S either... Still following? That’s okay me neither. Anyways we’re talking about all the next gen details on todays episode of Send News! So don’t miss out.
