  • Shattered Lives: What Can You Learn From the Movies?
What does Shattered Lives have to do with the movies?
No, not an appearance by Siskel and Ebert! Movies often portray the good, the bad and the ugly side of life, and explain visually the tragic and the hopefullness of mankind.
Host Donna R. Gore loves movies, especially those with a “moral to the story” and those which offer solutions and an impact to the message they portray. She is offering up her own brand of review!
The Doctor with William Hurt & Christine Lahti
Jack McKee is a doctor with it all: he’s successful, he’s rich, and he has no problems…. until he is diagnosed with throat cancer. Now that he has seen medicine, hospitals, and doctors from a patient’s perspective, he realises that there is more to being a doctor than surgery and prescriptions.
Great story of loss & grief , identity, marriage (nearly) and a total metamorphosis of how he practices his trade after!
Running on Empty -with Judd Hirsch & Christine Lahiti
The eldest son of a fugitive family comes of age and wants to live a life of his own.
Vietnam protest, accidental killing, life on the lamb that wrecks his children’s future too…
Tune in for something a little different this week! And maybe some other little “surprises!”

Shattered Lives guest, Melissa Cann, is one such person. Thrust into a world she, and others, were not prepared for, the world of missing persons and surviving a homicide, Melissa has found the support of many other families living the same experience.

One of her roommates had tried unsuccessfully to reach her by phone, returned to the apartment and found Effie Hall dead on the floor, the telephone off the hook.

  • Crime Wire Updates Nique' Leili, Gwinett County, GA Unsolved
Joining the show for the hour to examine some of the known details of the case of murdered Nique’ Leili is her grown daughter,Alex Page, and sister, Amy Elk.

In July, 2011, there was trouble in the Leili home with calls to the police, arguments and insinuation of past violence in the marriage of Matthew and Nique’ Leili. Nique’ went missing on July 8, leaving behind her purse, keys, credit cards, and, most importantly, her children, her husband says there was an argument and she walked out of the house.
A week later, in the hot Georgia summer, her decomposing remains were found on July 16 less than a mile from her home, completely naked, face down in a shallow grave covered by leaves. Her clothes have never been found. Interestingly, her husband, Matthew Leili had already filed for divorce citing abandonment. How did he know she wasn’t coming back? Could it be because he had spy gadgets everywhere, including surveillance cameras, tape recordings of all phone conversations, keyloggers on all computers, and trackers on all cell phones? Seems he would have a pretty good idea where his wife was headed considering the lengths taken to keep track of her.
Named a suspect in the murder of Nique’, Matthew has not been arrested and no charges have been filed. He has since taken two of the couple’s young children and moved them out of state, isolating them from Nique’s family.
