In separate incidents over a four day period in June, two unarmed men were shot and killed by the Miami Beach police. Officer Adam Tavss alone shot Husein Shahada. After passing a psychological exam, he was cleared to go back on the street 72 hours later. That same day Tavss and two others shot and killed Lawrence McCoy, Jr. The Miami Beach Police Department determined that each shooting was a justified use of deadly force. However, not everyone agrees with those findings.

Tonight Kim Kolton and I will seek justice for the Shahada and McCoy families. We’ll be joined by attorney John Contini and members of both families.

Tonight Kim Kolton and I will seek justice for Melissa Romero. The 22-year-old was shot to death on April 15, 2006 in Roswell, New Mexico. Melissa's boyfriend gave differing reports of his activities to the police and coroner's investigators at the scene. And the ranking police officer on site told reporters that the shooting was the result of a feud between family members. In spite of the boyfriend's inconsistent statements and other evidence, no arrest has been made. Joan Hughes - Melissa's mother - will join us to discuss her daughter's murder and the status of the investigation.

Tonight my co-host will be victim's advocate Cherry Simpson; and our guest will be David LaBahn of the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys. Mr. LaBahn will explain the workings of the legal system and take your phone calls and questions.

Tonight Kim Kolton and I will be seeking justice for Shawn McMillan. In the early morning hours of September 2, 2001 the 26-year-old was shot in the head in Tarpon Springs, Florida. The gun belonged to an off duty corrections officer, who said the fatal wound was self inflicted. But according to Shawn's mother Michaela Mahoney, the evidence doesn't support that conclusion. In her opinion, after the investigating police officers realized a CO was involved the investigation was completely mishandled. Michaela will join us to explain why she believes her son did not take his own life; and tell about her nearly seven-year battle to have his death certificate changed.

Duane is a Traumatic Loss Therapist and Educator in private practice, and author of "Guiding Your Family Through Loss and Grief," and "A Child is Missing: Providing Support for Families of Missing Children."Grief," and "A Child is Missing: Providing Support for Families of Missing Children." As an educator, Duane teaches seminars nationally, internationally and regionally on dying, death and grief, as well as trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and traumatic loss. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Counseling at Trinity College in Washington DC, and has been an invited guest lecturer for graduate and undergraduate classes at the University of Maryland, Howard University, University of the District of Columbia, Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University and Gallaudet University. He was also host of the call-in internet radio show "Let's Talk it Through" on www.HealthyLife.net. As a therapist Duane's specialty is working with survivors of traumatic death and suicide, which includes assisting families who must identify loved ones at the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, through the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing. He also provides support to families of abducted, missing, exploited and murdered children through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Duane serves as a training consultant to NCMEC, and is deployed by them to provide crisis intervention at Amber Alert sites with Team Adam. He also serves as a consultant and trainer for Team HOPE, a telephone support line for parents of missing children, and has provided services to AMECO (Association of Missing and Exploited Children Organizations).

Tonight's guest is true crime author Diane Fanning. We'll discuss the story behind her latest book, A Poisoned Passion. About the book: Air Force Staff Sergeant Mike Severance had survived a series of missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. But his life back at home, in Texas, would prove a lot more dangerous. In the winter of 2005, Mike’s wife, a veterinarian named Wendi Mae Davidson, reported him missing. Wendi told police that Mike had been acting erratically—visiting local clubs, staying out late, sometimes not coming home at all. She filed for divorce the very next day.Eventually Mike’s body turned up in a stock pond on a private ranch. Investigators described a corpse that was weighted down with two cinder blocks, a rock, a boat anchor, and other equipment. It had also been stabbed forty-one times with a knife. But an autopsy report told a different story: That the cause of death was exposure to pentobarbital and phenobarbital, drugs commonly used in veterinary medicine. All the evidence pointed to Wendi, and soon she would be found guilty of murder in the first degree.

Tonight Kim Kolton and I will be seeking justice for Joshua Robinson. The 20-year-old was found dead in a park in McGregor, Texas in the early morning hours of February 16, 2006. Hid death was promptly ruled a suicide. But as Josh's mother Cynthia looked at the circumstances surrounding the death and the police investigation, questions arose. Cynthia will join us to explain the reasons why she doesn't believe her son took his own life; and why the police are covering it up.
