While President of Utah State University, Elizabeth "Betsy" Cantwell received an annual salary of more than $580,000 dollars. She was only university president for about 18 months, but according to research from the Salt Lake Tribune, she spent at least another $661,000 in university funds on new cars, an apartment in Salt Lake City, national travel, and an office renovation involving luxury furnishings and her own bidet.
