In our last episode we pick apart ‘ Sweet Eddie ‘ . We began recording the podcast by the banks of the mighty Gascoyne River in remote Western Australia and finished a month later backstage at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Boulder, Colorado - USA. Recorded a few hundred metres from a truck that turns into a stage for the Gascoyne In May festival ( there was an artist playing while we recorded that has spilt into the audio). We pull apart the song, talk about ball-pits (Ikea) the colour of the sky and Kanye West. This week we recorded our podcast sitting on a 100 year old wooden verandah near a town called Pinjarra in Western Australia were we were performing at Fairbridge Music Festival 2018. Who would have thought a Radiolab podcast about Mycelium and the secret trading of resources beneath the soil would yield such a heart wrenching song by Danielle Caruana, known as Mama Kin.

Talking lyrics and drums and swampy things, this week Mama Kin and Spender get to the bottom of why this song was written so fast and what it means to want something that you can't have so bad, all you can do is write a song about it.

Mama Kin and Spender, holed up in an Airbnb in Sydney have a moment to dismantle the writing and production of the song and realise that it ended up forming the entire blue print for their collaboration.
