“They’ll go armed with sticks, arrows, a couple of shotguns and patrol the areas where they know logging is going on and essentially kick the loggers out. They set fire to the trucks, smash up the equipment and tie up the loggers. They’re not gonna kill them or break their limbs, the aim is to use enough reasonable force to stop them from coming back.” Phil Clark-Hill is a photojournalist that I met in Detroit in 2016. He’s spent a large amount of time working in Latin America for the past 7 years and I managed to catch him briefly before he was headed back to Brazil for another stint of projects. His work has taken him to some incredible places and been featured in various publications and media outlets such as; The Guardian, National Geographic, The BBC and CNN. In this episode we discuss his most recent trip to Brazil where he covered the election in which far-right, Jair Bolsonaro came into power in October 2018. We also get into his ongoing project with the indigenous Ka'apor tribe in the Amazon who are currently fighting off loggers that are destroying the rainforest. He's a man with a lot of drive to make this world a better place through his work and I hope you enjoy listening as much as I did! Phil's Website and Instagram Emil’s Website and Instagram
