  • How to Receive Mercy from God

Narrative: Welcome to Insights on Healing Podcast. Our Episode title is, “How to receive mercy from God. You will learn that God is ready to give you mercy when you humble your self and confess your sin.

I am Joan M. Blake, an author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing Podcast includes the reading of scripture, praying, reading from one of my books, or interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.

The purpose of this podcast is to provide content which brings emotional healing and restoration to mothers who have had a difficult past and are currently experiencing difficulties. A focal point of this podcast is reflecting on scripture verses and praying for my audience. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for.

Today, I am reading from Psalm 51: verses 1-13; I am reading from the NIV version of the Bible. Hear the word of God.

1Have mercy on me, O God,
        according to your unfailing love;
    according to your great compassion
        blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
        and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
        and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
    6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

    7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
    8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
so that sinners will turn back to you.

    Reflection:

David appears before God with a sorrowful heart because of the sin he committed against God. He acknowledges that he was born in sin even in his mother’s womb and know that his sin could only be removed by God who is compassionate and merciful towards us when we humble ourselves and confess our sin to him. He asked God to wash away his sin, create in him a clean heart, not abandoned him but restore the joy of his salvation so he could worship God in spirit and in truth and teach others along the way.

    Let us pray:

Father, we come to you acknowledging you as the God of Gods and king of Kings, merciful in the heavens and the earth, and the God who answers our prayers. We have sinned against you and we come humbly before you because you are the only one who can heal us from sin and restore us to wholeness. We come asking you to wash us and make us clean again and restore our relationship that you had with us. Give us the strength to depend only on you for all things for you have the power to make changes in our lives and help us stay on track and keep us from the enemy’s control.

Father, in the name of Jesus, for the one who is under the control of the enemy, I speak deliverance now. I break the enemy’s hold over you and I cancel the plans that the enemy has for you. You will not bend to the enemy’s control.  I decree that you will walk in newness of life and accomplish your purpose that God has for you to fulfill.

  • Why You Should Wait on God

Narrative: Welcome to Insights on Healing Podcast. Our Episode title is, Why you should wait on God. You will learn that blessings come in God’s timing.

    1. Waiting on God is critical part of your life and faith. I  have been waiting on God for healing of my daughter and I believe that God will heal my daughter. I know that God is doing something new in my life such as building up my faith and teaching me how much he loves me and how much I need to depend on him in my l
      • What Does Waiting on God Mean?
      • Waiting on God means trusting in God’s timing, relying and believing on his promises, and actively seeking God’s will while maintaining hope and patience. This means that you do not sit back and wait  on God, no, you pray, obey and prepare for God’s healing or position yourself for what God is going to do in your life or in the life of your loved one. For example, when you plant a seed, you have to wait for the seed to grow and mature into a plant, but in the mean time you water the ground, and put fertilizer in the ground so that the plant grow strong.

        • Let us look at some bible verses on waiting on God
        • Isaiah 40:31

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 tells us that we shall renew our strength and that we will run and not be weary; we will walk and not faint.

Psalm 27:14 states 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. We need to be courageous to get the strength that we need.

Lamentations 3:25-26: 25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. Waiting for God brings on goodness of God.

Psalm 37:7: 7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Do not be envious of others who seem to prosper; simply wait on the Lord and wait patiently for Him.

          • Reflection Question: How can you apply these verses to their lives?
          • 4. Examples of Waiting on God in the Bible

            a. Abraham and Sarah (Genesis 15:1-6; Genesis 21:1-7)

Abraham and Sarah waited 25 years for God’s promise of a son. Even when they doubted and took matters into their own hands (Hagar and Ishmael), God’s promise was ultimately fulfilled in His timing.

For you: Trust that God’s promises will be fulfilled, even if the wait seems long.

            b. Joseph (Genesis 37; Genesis 39–41)

Joseph waited years in slavery and prison before God elevated him to a position of power.

The trials Joseph faced during his waiting period prepared him for his God-given purpose.

For You: Waiting often refines us for the roles God has planned.

            c. David (1 Samuel 16; 2 Samuel 5:1-5)

Anointed as a young man, David waited years to become king, enduring persecution and hardship from Saul.

For You. David showed faith and obedience, refusing to take shortcuts to God’s plan.Avoid taking matters into your own hands; trust God’s process.

            Summary of what to do:

            • Stop thinking of fear of the unknown
            • Remember waiting on God builds character, strengthens faith, and aligns them with God’s purpose.
            • Pray, meditate on scripture, stay active on faith, surround yourself with a community of believers, thank God for small steps
            • Let’s pray:

Father, my listeners and I come before you because you are a mighty God, you know all things and you have the power to change our lives. We wait on you because you are faithful,  a God who keeps your promises and you promise never to leave or forsake us even while we are going through deep perils.

Teach us to wait on you, as you give us courage, strength, and faith, and patience while you work on our hearts letting us know that you love us so much and that you are performing a great work in us as a potter works with his clay. Thank you Father in Jesus’ name for the transformation that you are creating.

            • How God’s Love Transforms Us

Narrative. Welcome to “Insights on Healing Podcast.” In today’s episode, you will learn what it means that God sent his Son Jesus to be with us. You will understand what “God with us” means in your life.

I am Joan M. Blake, an author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing Podcast includes the reading of Scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books or interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.

The purpose of this podcast is to provide content which brings emotional healing and restoration to mothers who have had trauma and are currently experiencing difficulties.

A focal point of this podcast is reflecting on the scripture verses and praying for my audience.

Today I will be reading from the Gospel of Matthew chapter 1, verses 18 to 23 from the king James Virgin and it reads as follows: 18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save His people from their sins. 22. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet saying: 23. Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Reflection: We learned two important facts from these verses:

1.Jesus came to save us from our sins.

              2. God is with us. Let us reflect on Jesus came to save us from our sins. a. John 3:16-17 says that God so loved the world that he sent his son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his son in the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world may be saved through Him. b. Romans 5:8 But God showed his love for us for while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us c. 1 Timothy 1:15: This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Let us reflect on the statement that God is with us: a. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and fortress a present help in the time of trouble. This Psalm explains God’s presence with us in good as well as difficult times. b. Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. In your lonely times, where everyone has forgotten you, God is with you. Even in times when you feel like giving up, God is with you. He will give you the strength to make a way out of your situation. c. John 14:16-17: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth.” Through the Holy Spirit, God remains with us continually. d. Hebrews 13:5: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” This promise tells us that God is with us forever and he promises never to forsake us so we can have hope in difficult times.

Let us pray: Father we come to you during this Christmas season to give you praise, honor, and glory for who you are. We thank you for sending Jesus to save us from our sins. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to confess our sins and accept Jesus as Lord of our lives. Thank you Father that You are with us forever and you promise never to forsake us. I pray for my listeners who are going through a lonely period in their lives, difficult times, emotional difficulties, and illnesses, that they would remember that they can rely on you, for you are with them and they can call you at any time for you know their pain, their situations and those who need you desperately. We ask for healing and deliverance for your people in the name of Jesus, Amen.

            • Why You Should Depend on God

Narrative: Welcome to Insights on Healing Podcast. Our Episode title is, Why you should depend on God. You will learn who God is and what happens when you cry out to him.

Today, I am reading verses 1-6 and verses 16-20 of Psalm 18 from the KJV

I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.

2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay.

19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

Reflection: This is a psalm of David when he escaped from the hands of Saul and from his enemies. You learned from verses 1-2 that the Lord is your strength, he is your rock, your fortress and your deliverer, the horn of your salvation and your high tower. Verse 3 explains that He is worthy to be praised. In verse 4 and 5 explained how David was afraid and how he was close to death but in his distress, he called upon God and God heard his cries. Verses 16 through 20, explain God took David out of many waters and how God brought him into a large place because he delighted in him. David remained true to God and God recompensed him.

Are you experiencing a lot of issues right now and you cannot see your way? Cry out to God, for he is your strength, your fortress and your high tower. He will rescue you as he did David. You must utilize your faith to believe that He will do it and he will.

Let us pray: Father God, I pray for healing for my listeners who may be ill and dying, those who may not have proper housing or living on the streets, those who are suffering with various  emotional issues, that you would provide healing and restore them to wholeness God in the name of Jesus. There is nothing too hard for you, for you are God. The word states that you are a strong tower, a fortress and their deliverer. I pray that they will call upon you for you are worthy to be praised and that you answer prayer. Thank you God for answering their prayers in the name of Jesus, Amen.

                  • Your parents died and you were the oldest child left to care for your siblings.
Reflection: Look at that situation as an honor because you were able to help your siblings, and the government did not put you and your siblings in foster care. Sometimes children are separated when they are assigned to foster care.
Scripture Verse: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2
                  • You are tired of working hard at your full-time job which is paying only minimum wage, and you cannot see a way out to improve yourself.
Reflection: Regard your situation as the beginning of your greatness. Again, look into a community college as a way to move forward into the future.
Scripture Verse: “Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.” – Proverbs 16:3
                  • Your spouse walked out on you or died, and you are left feeling lonely and forgotten, and you cannot pick up the pieces of your life.
Reflection: You can no longer feel sad and gloomy over the fact that your spouse died or   walked out on you. You need to slowly pick up the pieces of your life so you can live again and hope again. Start meeting with friends for tea and talk about issues with your friends. You will find that everyone has a problem, but the problem is not the same as yours.
Scripture Verse: “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
                  • You have no friends because you do not trust anybody, and so you feel dissatisfied with life.
Reflection: Start by joining a therapeutic group where you can feel good sharing openly with others. In time, you will make friends and trust others. People need people.
Scripture Verse: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
                  • You are lying in a hospital bed sick and dying; You feel like giving up and taking your life because your life has no meaning.
Reflection: Some people die younger than others, but the fact of the matter is that we will all die. However, what matters is how we go about meeting our Maker.
Scripture Verse: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalm 23:4
                  • Let us pray:

                    Father,

We come in your presence one more time, because in your presence is fullness of joy and peace forever more. You said, come unto me all you who are weary and I will give you rest. So we come before you bringing you the needs of your children who feel dissatisfied with life for several reasons. Lord, some are sick, others feel lonely, poverty stricken, struggling with their past and do not have a way out of their situations. I pray in the name of Jesus, that you would supply their needs, giving them hope and a future. Thank you Lord for your goodness and your mercy.

                  • What are the consequences of Unforgiveness

                    Part 2

Narrative: Welcome to Insights on Healing Podcast. Our Episode title is, “When things are not adding up? You feel that you have failed. You will understand that even if you have failed in your business, failure is not the end, and that God is guiding you in your journey and you can feel hopeful.

A focal point of this podcast is reflecting on the scripture verses and praying for my audience. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for.

In our previous episode, we talked about how you felt dealing with painful wounds and why it was difficult to give up the pain and move forward. Today, we are going to delve into why unforgiveness is dangerous, what it leads to and why we need to forgive others.

                    1. Bitterness and Resentment:
                      1. Unforgiveness breeds bitterness, which can fester and grow into resentment, poisoning the heart.
                      1. Scripture: “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.” (Ephesians 4:31)
                      2. Blocks God’s Forgiveness:
                        1. Holding onto unforgiveness can block us from receiving God’s forgiveness.
                        1. Scripture: “But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (Matthew 6:15)
                        2. Hinders Prayer and Worship:
                          1. Unforgiveness can create a barrier between us and God, affecting our spiritual life and hindering our prayers.
                          1. Scripture: “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” (Mark 11:25)
                          2. Causes Emotional and Physical Harm:
                            1. Unforgiveness can lead to stress, anxiety, and even physical ailments, as the burden of anger and hurt weighs down the body and soul.
                            1. Scripture: “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” (Proverbs 14:30)
                            2. Let us pray.

Father we come before you because you are loving and compassionate and you are a forgiving God. We confess our sins of hate, jealousy, bitterness, and unforgiveness and we ask for your forgiveness. We realize that if we do not forgive, we are the ones who remain in bondage without healing. You said if we confess our sin, you are faithful to forgive us and to cleanse us from all righteousness. You also said that if we do not forgive, you will not forgive us. Thank you Father that you will continue to guide and direct our paths so we do not fall in the pit of this sin in Jesus name, amen.

                              Part !

When you cannot overcome the pain that someone caused you. In this episode we will deal with the pain of the wounds and what happens when you feel pain and cannot get over it.

Let us talk about how you experience pain as a child.

When you were a child, you remember many times that you fell and hurt yourself but managed to get up and get help from your mom or your dad. They cleaned your cut, put a bandage on it, and you waited till the cut was healed. You did not blame anyone, not even yourself.

What happens when you are wounded emotionally or physically? You remember the pain and the hurt, but you refuse to let them go. You hold on to them and you do not allow time to heal you from them? Why does that happen?

                              1. You refuse to forgive the person or persons who hurt you
                              2. The pain is so sharp that you cannot bear it
                              3. You cannot believe the things that your best friend said about you
                              4. You can’t believe your spouse left you for your best friend
                              5. You were left with emotional pain when you were physically abused
                              6. The list is endless what you might have gone through and years have past and your wounds are still raw; you are still not healed.
                              7. You remain bitter and unforgiving
                              8. Let us pray.

Father, we come to you because you understand what we are going through. You sent Jesus to feel the pain of sin and to die in our place. I ask Lord, God, in the name of Jesus, that you show us the way we should go, how we should act, and the love that we should have even for those who have hurt us. We ask for a cleansing and healing of our hearts so we can have a spiritual relationship with you.

Narrative: Welcome to Insights on Healing Podcast. Our Episode title is, “When things are not adding up? You feel that you have failed. Have you felt that things are not adding up? You simply do not know the direction God is taking you and you feel that you have failed to make a difference in the lives of others. Let us break this down further and show you that God wants to use you in different ways:

                                1.  I feel the same way. In my beginning statement, I explained that I felt like things were not adding up seeing that  my YouTube channel is not doing well even though I have put in a lot of hard work. I am asking God to guide me through this difficult time and show me what He wants me to do. This will come from trusting and believing in God through prayer and his word knowing that God does not make junk. You are not junk and you are not a failure. God desires to use your giftings in different ways, and for His glory. Ephesians 4:12 states that the purpose of our talents is to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for building up the body of Christ.
                                  • I think the first thing to ask yourself is what has God put in your heart to do from the beginning of your ministry, and have you been doing that earnestly? I remember God planting a Podcast for me to  do and while I started a Podcast “Insights on Healing” I have not consistently followed his leadership.
                                    • If you have not followed God’s leading and positioning, revisit it and act upon it. Since I have not been actively creating a Podcast weekly, I have decided to revisit my stance and become active in pursuing God’s purpose by creating podcast episodes where I am interviewing guests.
                                      • In the past few years of doing different things and not positioning myself in one main area, I have felt lonely and need to hire help to be successful. You and I need help to move our businesses along
                                      • Prayer: Let us pray: Father, I pray for every listener who seems to feel lost on his/her journey. I pray father in the name of Jesus, that they would remember that you have a plan and a purpose for every person before the world began and when that person follows your plan, he/she would walk in his/her destiny. I pray that every person will trust you and increase hope and faith in you because you are faithful to your promises.

Why we should commit to God’s ways

Narrative: Welcome to Insights on Healing Podcast. Our Episode title is, Why we should commit to God’s ways. You will learn that as you commit to God’s ways you will receive direction and life-long benefits.

I am Joan M. Blake, an author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing Podcast includes biblical discussions to give you insights on healing, praying for you, my audience, or reading from one of my books. I intend to interview individuals in the future, who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.

The purpose of this podcast is to provide content which brings emotional healing and restoration to mothers who have dealt with trauma and are currently experiencing difficulties. A focal point of this podcast is reflecting on scripture verses from my discussions and praying for my audience. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God will bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for.

Before committing to God’s way, we should thrive to understand the ways of the Lord, so we know what God expects of us.

The “ways of the Lord” refer to the principles, actions, and character of God as revealed in the Bible. Understanding and committing to God’s ways is fundamental to a life of faith. Let us begin by defining five characteristics of the Lord, with their relative scripture verses.  In each situation, we will make a case for why we should commit to the way of the Lord.

                                        1. Righteousness and Justice.
                                        2. Psalm 11:7 states that the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face. Because God’s ways are inherently righteous and just, He is the ultimate standard of morality, and His actions are always in alignment with truth and fairness. By committing to God’s ways, we align ourselves with what is right and just, fostering a life that reflects His character.

                                          •  Love and Compassion
                                          • Psalm 145:8 states that “The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love” Since God’s ways are marked by love and compassion, we are to follow in his ways by living a life of love and compassion towards others. This fulfills the greatest commandment to love God and to love our neighbors (Matthew 22: 37-39)

                                            3.   Holiness and Purity

In 1 Peter 1: 15-16 the scripture states, “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.'” (1 Peter 1:15-16). Since we are committed to following in God’s ways, we should thrive to be like him in all things. God knows our weaknesses as sinful beings and He would help us when we fall and get up again.

                                            • Faithfulness and Truth
                                            • Psalm 145:13 states that “The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.” To be committed to God’s ways we must be faithful in our lives, become trustworthy and true in our relationships and responsibilities.

                                              5.    Peace and Guidance

Proverbs 3:6 states that “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” It is tiring going through endless circles trying to solve your problems when all we have to do is submit all to God and he will guide us accordingly. When we do so, we receive his peace as we follow his directions and make wise decisions. This commitment leads to a life of order and purpose, reflecting the peace that comes from walking in God’s will.

                                              Why Commit to God’s Ways?

                                              1. You fulfill your purpose in life. Everyone was born with a purpose to fulfill. When you you commit to God’s ways, you will live a fulfilling and purposeful life. Ephesians 2:10
                                                1. You receive blessing and prosperity. When you are committed to God’s law, is kind and a blessing to others, God is going to bless you. We see that in Psalm 1:1-13 that the blessing that one receives is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither.
                                                2. You receive Eternal Life: When you are committed to God’s ways, you are on the path to Eternal life. The word of the Lord states that Commitment to God’s ways is the path to eternal life. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  By following God’s ways, we enter into a relationship with Him that leads to eternal life.
                                                3. In summary, the ways of the Lord are the paths of righteousness, love, holiness, faithfulness, and peace. By committing to these ways, we live a life that reflects God’s character, leading to blessings in this life and the assurance of eternal life to come.

Let us pray: Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus, desiring to know you and your ways and committed to following your directions. Lord, God help us not to depend on our selves to solve our problems, but instead, depending on you, following your lead so that we can live and thrive and do your will. Teach us your way so we can live according to your will and direction. We ask for forgiveness as we confess and renounce our selfishness and pride. You said in your word, if we confess our sins, you are faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all righteousness. Thank you Lord for your gracious love and grace.
