As a diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), David was posted to Baghdad, Hong Kong, and Nairobi and had significant missions in Beirut, Baghdad, Ankara, Taipei, and Geneva. Other duties with DFAT included Lead Negotiator on Intellectual Property on the free trade agreement with China, and in Geneva in the World Trade Organization; Director and lead negotiator for APEC Trade and Investment when China was APEC Chair (2014), and lead on defense and security issues on the Korean Peninsula. David was appointed Adjunct Professor at the Australian Defence Force Academy (UNSW Canberra Campus) and Federation University (2015-18). David was also the Chief of Staff to the former Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Trade (and later, Education); Head, Global Engagement for the Business Council of Australia (arranged the Australia-China CEO Roundtable and meeting with Chinese Premier Li Kechiang and PM Turnbull); and Director, International and Civic for the City of Melbourne where he drove the successful and now annual Nexus Start-up Summit (with Hitech Zone Pukou in Nanjing) and NexStar Global Students Entrepreneur Program. David has a Master of Laws (UNE), Bachelor of Laws (ANU), Bachelor of Arts (Melb Uni), was admitted to Practice in the Supreme Court and is a Graduate of the Royal Australian Navy Staff College. David is also on the Advisory Board of the Victoria Business Confucius Institute and is a Zijin International Friendship Ambassador for the city of Nanjing.

Sue Lees is a teacher who has taught in many places in the world. She has known Steph Woollard since Steph was a student at Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School. On her long-service leave, she went to Nepal to do some volunteer teacher training and was there when Steph started the Seven Women project. They worked to help each other support Nepal. As they continued to work together their lives diverged into different projects.  Sue is happy to come together with Steph and discuss their accomplishments and is delighted to see how far Steph has come with Seven women. Merrily Hunter is the Founder and CEO of MAC Energy Efficiency Group, a group of companies dedicated to energy efficiency services and the transition of the Australian energy market to greener technologies.

Merrily started MAC in 2014, in her hometown Melbourne, Australia and has grown it from a start up to 150 installers working with Government and businesses delivering energy saving upgrades.

Merrily prior to MAC, managed the energy efficiency compliance for AGL and has worked in the industry for more than 15 years. She currently sits on the board of the Energy Efficiency Council and is a rare female CEO (and working mum) in the Australian energy sector.

For this new episode, we have Andrew Flynn. From developing healthy sport programs in the Pacific to his work with the largest humanitarian organisation in the world, Andrew has had a vibrant career that has celebrated volunteerism every step of the way.  

In his current role with the Australian Red Cross he leads a large group of staff and volunteers in a community lead response to the isolation impacts of Covid 19.

In addition to this, Andrew runs intensive Leadership workshops designed to focus skills, passions and instil the message that ‘positive change starts within’.  He also leads a university alumni group that provides opportunities for graduates to connect with their industry leaders.

Andrew’s story is one that showcases a passion for bringing the best out of his community and takes great pride in empowering volunteers to answer the needs of our society.

For this episode, we have Wadzanai Nenzou, originally from Zimbabwe. Wadzanai is the Founder & CEO of Herconomics a mission-driven company that is focused on empowering women to build their personal wealth.  She teaches Australian women who want to invest in shares but feel intimidated to buy their first share. Through her Herconomics Share Investors course for beginners, she has so far taught dozens upon dozens of Australian women and counting how to start investing in shares over the long term so they can have financial autonomy, peace of mind, and ultimately build a lasting financial legacy for their loved ones and community. She got her start in the Australian financial services industry in 2006 working for AXA an investment management firm. Over the past 15 years she has worked in investment companies, multinational firms, superannuation companies, and major Australian banks in the areas of Financial Planning, Superannuation, Investments, Banking, and Compliance. In her most recent role for Bendigo Bank one of the largest banks in Australia, she has provided clients with general investing advice with a big focus on investing in shares. She holds a Master of Accounting from Swinburne University, Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University, and Diploma of Financial Planning from ASFA. Wadzanai is deeply passionate about the advancement of African Australians. Over the years she has been able to attract African Australian women to learn about money and investing and many of these women have started investing in shares and building personal wealth. She has volunteered her time to collaborate with organizations such as Incubate Foundation to provide mentorship to African Australian women in order to build wealth for themselves, their loved ones, and their community. In her spare time, Wadzanai loves to laugh, connect with other humans and have interesting conversations, travel, music, dancing, reading, TV Shows, Movies, listening to podcasts, eating good food, going to nice bars, going to the theatre, the countryside and life as a whole.

A father to three kids, and a lover of adventure and physical endeavors.
