We talk about everything and anything from representation, our languages and names, lots on our families as well as sharing one anothers points of view.

We're privileged to have been able to produce this podcast in Narmm/Melbourne, on the lands of the Wathaurong, Wurundjeri and Boonerwrung people of the Eastern Kulin nations. As Asian Australians many of us occupy a space between the coloniser and the colonised, so we're grateful and pay our respects to elders from first nations people in Melbourne and around the world past, present and emerging.

This episode's guest is designer, digital artist, writer and creator, Francis Cao, who navigates liminal and complicated spaces between being Vietnamese and Australian, and being Catholic and gay. It was really interesting to chat to Francis and discuss how formulates and understands himself, and how that changes over time. We also discussed the importance of representation of minority issues and how that can make so much of a difference to a majority of people!

This episodes guest is Cindy Jiang, a Melbourne-based Chinese writer, theatre maker, and performer. We talked about everything from the meaning of the song to her, the privilege of having lived where you come from, the meeting point of Asianess and queerness, and that journey of self discovery. This conversation was long, meaningful, and filled with contemplation and punchy one liners.

In this episode, I talked to Ahila Navaratnam, whose family history of migration is both so interestingly unique and increasingly universal. We talked about how that history has interacted with religion, language, and culture, in herself and in her family.We also discuss in detail and reflect on Asian representation in musical theatre throughout history to present day in Melbourne.

This podcast came out of the desire to create a platform for sharing experiences, perspectives and stories. Hopefully you’ll be be able to find parts of these episodes that might be super relatable, or totally completely new.

In each episode, we start of talking about a song that is important to each guest, and how that song relates to their cultural identity, artistic identity and to them. Sharing stories and unpacking nuanced but universal parts of their lives. We talk about everything from sex, langage, race, religion, family and art.
