And I told him that I would answer him on the radio and so that's what I'm going to do. This is just about eight minutes and I think you'll find it helpful and obviously it is an incredible amount of shameless self promotion!!! But I guarantee you in the eight minutes you will learn quite a bit about how to ask for a recommendation rather than a referral and better how to answer the question what do you do. And do something better and different, that elevator pitch idea is old and not a very good idea. But I guarantee you everybody including you in your company does not do a very good job and most do a terrible job of answering the question, what do you do?

 That's right I've been a long time teacher broadcaster and a business performance coach and I could coach Donald Trump if he would allow me.  And I know it would help him and so I'm gonna let you listen in to what I would tell him as from his speech on Tuesday night so he is now the first one in the race to become the next president. And I think I know some things that would measurably increase his chances of winning the election even though many people think things are turning against him and that may be true.  But this I do know that if he would at least give a hearing and a listen and a possible anticipation of changed action based on my little 25 minute coaching session and then with some follow up work things will go better for him much better for him.

And here's another lesson for you.  Many of the things I'm going to tell Donald Trump are good for you too.  People often said that Donald Trump is a flawed man. For sure that's true and I would like to introduce you to another flawed man or woman. Go look in the mirror.  We are all deeply flawed people and in need of God's amazing grace and forgiveness and for him to do a work of transformation in our own lives.  You might discover that what is good for Donald would also be true for you.  And that's why we all need a coach somebody will help us have the courage to face the truth about ourselves and to see ourselves as others might see us and perceive us and then having to have the courage to embrace humility, embrace paradox, and embrace the change that we all need.  So this coaching session is for Donald and it's for you, and by the way it's also for me.

Right now some of you are a little bit upset and you think I'm crazy.  What In the world could you learn from that barbarian non-sport called boxing.  First of all let me tell you whether you like it or not the gladiator spirit is part of the human condition.  So you need to understand it to be effective in life and in the conflicts and difficulties that we will all endure.  But please just give me 15 minutes to tell you a little bit about boxing and where he was in the past and remember some of you actually liked Sylvester Stallone particularly in Rocky 1. By the way in episode one remember that Rocky lost the match, but indeed he won.  How could that be.

But my boxing story is just a way to segue into something very important that all of us need particularly in these difficult and challenging days.  We all need to find a corner in life. That's vital and so if you'll give me just a few minutes let me tell you a little bit about getting a corner, not the corner office, but a place where you can get a corner on learning, thinking, resting, and restoring your spirit and well-being for the next round in life.

 In my many years of leadership and executive performance coaching I often would tell someone who prided themselves on being a fast starter, that on Monday you wanted to get a fast start on your day, but you want to get a slow start in your connecting and calling and meeting with people.  Early in the day most people are not quite fully in gear and they may have a lot of emails and messages and other things that they should focus on in your call might be quite disruptive and unappreciated.  

Is that good advice I'd like you to let me know.  So on Monday I send the podcast out a little later and certainly publicize it much later as it is designed to perhaps come to people later in the afternoon when things are a bit quieter maybe even settled down, and perhaps when people are in a little more rested and reflective mood about how the day went and how they might make some changes in the week that they know know more about and was before them.

So slow down and let me share some great advice about how important it is very often to just do that, Slow down.  And so I'm back sharing one of my favorite books with you Lessons from Horses with Randy Helm. I think you might find the next 15 minutes of stories helpful and useful and they may even make you smile.

 Just about five years ago I heard those frightening words, "Stan, you have cancer."... And just this past month I took the yearly test and I heard those words that every survivor wants to hear from the doctor, "See you next year." Well just recently my good friend Wayne from many years not only heard those you have cancer words, butalso discovered that the cancer he had was very rare and yet very lethal.  And that was the start of an incredible journey overcoming fear and the power of wise and wonderful doctors and modern medicine, but of something much more.   So I encourage you to take about 20 minutes this weekend and listen to his story and please share it with others who could use a word of encouragement.

 Of course this is a bit of the old headline Clickbait which is a part of the Internet world. And so from time to time I use it even though for the most part I would like to believe the people we just be interested in a good topic.  But the problem is the people might miss something really good because they just didn't have immediate interest in the idea. And after a lifetime of performing and teaching and selling and broadcasting I know that if you don't have the ears or the eyeballs of the audience and the potential customers, nothing happens.  And in that line of work if nothing happens nothing is paid.  And I admit I had a twinge of envy when a particular acquaintance who had a very good government job admitted that he made a very good income and he really didn't have to do very much.

So with your permission may I tell you the story of the picture that is not shocking at all or scandalous at all but why I kept it and why I often used it as a way to remind me of how I should live and how I should try and help others.  I hope it will be helpful to you.

Here's a new word for you, poly crisis.  Yes we are living in a world of many crises end it also seems a world of crazies.  And because the American election has no real winner and may not, a lot of the crises that were part of the issues of the whole event will continue.  It appears that nothing was settled and most likely nothing will be solved.  But why did you ever really believe that there are political solutions to our most important problems, when in fact political solutions are illusions. Well with that statement I have some of you very upset and perhaps a few of you just wondering what it's all about and does this guy actually have anything helpful.

I submit the perhaps the commentator who says that we are living in a world of sadness is close to the truth and where can we find people of hope and faith and spirit and energy who can actually really help us in a world of sadness.  The following program is not a long rant but merely a few minutes of reflections about what I know I have to do and what I'm encouraging the people who count on me to do as we seek to live and do well and make a living in a world of sadness and poly crises.

Well that's one of the ways I often introduce who I am and what I do as a guy with a microphone. So with that admission and caveat in mind on this busy Monday evening I will give you a few thoughts about the election and some of the things that might be clear to me.  First of all, because I want to be a good citizen I will not be casting a vote this year. 

I will wait and see what the rest of you think and decide.  You're welcome to evaluate my idea. But in 48 hours many things will be different and I'm going to challenge you to seek the wisdom of knowing what it all means, and most importantly for you, what does it mean to you and what you do you do in your life, business, and relationships. Always remember I'm just a guy with a microphone and so take it all for what it's worth to you.

 Yes the news is all around that Elon Musk is starting to create a Twitter that is very much in his own image and with his own business intentions.  That is what he has a right to do and should do.  He hast to set the stage for the business the way he wants and he needs to find the people who play important roles to be one of his choosing and I was liking.

And the United States is ready to have a major election which may lead to many changes for many people based on the outcome.

In my many years of coaching both leadership, managers, and yes even the workers and employees I have emphasized that everybody needs to have a succession and exit plan.  There are no real jobs and job security is not a reality anymore.  Instead you should view your work merely as the project of the day and for the time, and assume  but it will come to an end sometime because all projects do.

So with your permission may I give you some initial guidance on what you should do just in case you also get that notice!

 The turbulent election in Brazil has taken place and the protest continue.  The turbulent election in the US is coming to a close eye and from now on I'm just an observer and wondering how it will all turn out. And contrary to what we would like to believe there really isn't very much we can do about it.  So let's talk about something different. 

I'm helping a new friend name Jim Hinckley to live out his life passion for the history of the American automobile and his love of the open road that many of those historical and classical cars were on. Indeed the famous route 66 was often called the Mother Road or the Main street of America.
