I know it has happened to you but it happened to me yesterday when I went to the doctors office to simply get an opinion of a problem with some back pain. And before I could go to the doctors office I had to fill out a lengthy form almost giving my life history and story, and having to confess that one time in my life many decades ago I did smoke some cigarettes.

And yesterday at the same time the Supreme Court was hearing a contest as the university of North Carolina and Harvard University we're being sued because they admitted that in their admissions policy that race and ethnicity played a part in how decisions for admittance were made.  And the group representing many Asian Americans claimed that they were very negatively impacted by that policy.

And so in my wondering mine today I am asking why we still do dumb things like that. Why in the world do we even use the term race in the world. Why do we think that ethnicity should be a determining factor in anything? 

So please listen and if you have any good ideas or insights about this please let me hear them.

No this is not some trick or treat trick.  It is fun as a part of the season end it also reminds me of when my children so delightfully loved the hallowed evening.  And yes there is what I call the Clint Eastwood prayer. It's a prayer that I pray quite often and you can do because it's very simple and you've all heard it before and now you can make it your own and make it a way to help you through every day. 

So give me about 12 minutes of story time and I think you'll have a smile on your face and maybe an intention to also become a Clint Eastwood praying person.

Did you know that 80% of the energy that we used to do all the things that make modern life what it is in the best sense comes from what is called "fossil fuel".  And did you know that all of the billions and trillions of dollars that have been spent on alternatives in the last 10 years has not really changed the percentage of power and energy that we now need and use.

And did you know that many of the predicted future nightmares about the state of the world that we have listened to and in some cases believed, are now even being challenged by the believers themselves.

And no I do not expect to in any way change anybody's mind at all, and those who beieve differently will continue to believe so. But may I just simply suggest yhat if you are a leader in the world today you at least should consider that maybe fossil fuels are indeed a gift from God.

Just an idea for your thought and consideration from someone who earnestly believes that most things about this I don't know, and I am not one who claims to be an expert.  And remember you should probably never trust somebody who claims to be an expert. But unfortunately much of the media and institutional obsession with the state of the climate will keep us from having the wisdom and the ability to solve what are some real right now problems.

 I just want what I deserve.  I want what is fair.  Right now millions of Americans are being told that they have things that they deserve and they better make sure they get all that they deserve.  But I'm pretty sure that I don't want to get all I deserve. That might not be a good idea.  Let me be for another day but today in 10 minutes I just wanted to ask you to think about what you deserve and what you want.

About 3% of the population have a fairly clear idea of what they want out of life and the rest of us have less certainty less clarity going all the way down to the people who don't have a clue and don't care. But as we have brought the old year through and are now in the new year to come it might be important to examine the state of your soul and the state of your mind and the state of your situation and perhaps your choice of direction.  And that's assuming you have one,

It was a long time business performance coach I've helped many people at this stage of their life and this stage of the year to take time to do just that, and so can I remind myself and perhaps remind you for the first time as I talk to myself and you can listen in.

It was totally unexpected. I did a program at the beginning of the month about the situation in Florida as a result of the terrible and tragic hurricane that took place there. It was also very personal to me because I have two very close friends who recently just moved into that area and I want to know about their home and most importantly about them. 

But I also responded very positively to a video clip on a national network in which a woman walk through what remained of her beautiful home with the reporter. She was obviously in deep distress but trying to be brave but because she knew that the television people would be there she tried to make herself look nice and put on some bold lipstick that was her style.

And for some reason that program reached a record large audience and I don't know whether it was the content in the context of the hurricane. or was it the fact that I talked about her lipstick.  Well much to my surprise I found that there was a bit of a controversy about that in some circles and it caused a young woman to respond and say is it OK to wear lipstick at the office. 

This is my attempt to give an honest answer from me to her and you're welcome to listen in and of course if you have something to add please do so,

 There are significant elections going on around the world and here in the USA there is a major election two weeks from today. And the corporate media knows that the more they can get you hung up on the elections the more money they will make.  So in this little review of some thinking I would suggest there for the next two weeks we not think very much about the elections.  

In the USA there are three possibilities of what might happen, and none of them will do much of us any good in the near future.  So I encourage you to be mostly a bystander, vote if you wish, but put your emotional and thoughtful and spiritual hopes and plans in first place in your thought.

But there's something that you can do in your own life and business right now let me assure you with a touch of grace in your life it will make for a much better 23.  And it's called POP. And so in the next few minutes.  My ideas might be thoughtful and helpful to you.  But no matter my best wishes and blessings will be helpful and I do that on a regular basis.

 Greetings and welcome to Monday evening as we go into the last week of October. Indeed where did the year go and why aren't things better. And since things and the rest of the stuff in the world is probably not going to be better either, how can we begin to be better, and perhaps have a great year.

And the topic. is rght on.  Please say that about me, please say something different something else, or maybe say nothing at all. I'm not talking about somebody saying something cruel and nasty, that does happen but not very often, in fact the person was trying to be very kind and they were. 

But I still do not want them say what they said.  And it is part of a new resolution and intention that I have about myself and so I'd like to tell you the story because I think it would be good for you too.

Just be humble and listen please.

 I missed the program yesterday because I got thumped... And for what it's worth I'll tell you the story because it might be helpful to you or to both of us when we have a "thumped" day.

And indeed the world is a mess even more so in Europe where they are now contemplating what some people are calling a winter nightmare. And the lack of heating and maybe even food supplies could cause real trouble.  And even in America the price of heating fuel is going very high and some people might die. 

And do you know what would happen to the supplies in the grocery store and many other things we need if the price of diesel fuel gets so high that the truckers shut down for even three days.

And so the question for consideration for this weekend is, how did so many leaders and others get so many things wrong. If you are a leader you better think about that and you better have a strategy and a way of thinking and speaking to deal with what might be a real mess this winter after the election!

Be blessed and seek to bless others because we all need it.

 There's an old expression that we've heard from the classic book a tale of two cities, "It was the worst of times It was the best of times." And our usual interpretation of that is well there are good times and then there are bad times, but the truth is sometimes they're the same thing the same time. And the wisdom of the ages and for many of the people who have lived in all of the different stages of life is that often times they are the same or if not the same it was from the worst that the best was born.

This week we're talking about what does your life depend on. And thanks to the wisdom of my friend Steven Pressfield, his posting blog for today inspired me to simply remember and now to repeat something that I have experience and I'm beginning to learn in greater depth. Indeed we must embrace the paradox of life that perhaps the same thing can be both of the best and the worst, and that we need both....

And I encourage you right now in '23 for you to decide what truly does your life I hit depend on, and so you are welcome to listen in to a conversation with myself today. 

There are probably very few things in which it can be said, your life depends on it. I've had that happen at least once and maybe there's other things that my life depends on that I might not be aware of.  And there's a good chance that's true of you too.  '23 will be a year of difficulty. 

Finally people are beginning to realize that the normal that they were yearned for will probably never be, at least not now and maybe forever.  So might there be some simple things that we can do they did in fact our life and the life we would like to live might depend on. 

I'm taking time to try and figure some of those out and maybe you can help me and maybe I can help you. Indeed what does our life depend on going forward.
