This week’s message was given by Trevor Harris. Pastor Trevor is from Cambridgeshire, UK, and has been involved with Baptist church planting and pastoring for over ten years. He is also the founder of Prêche La Parole.fr, which teaches French-speaking pastors and church leaders how to do expository preaching from the Word of God. With a message from Mark chapter 14, Here’s Trevor Harris with this week’s message, “Our Worship Flows from the Cross.”

A sheep that has fallen down and can’t get up on its own is called a “cast” sheep. Experienced shepherds tell us that there are several reasons why cast sheep find themselves in such dire circumstances. They also know what it takes to see such sheep restored to health and vitality. In another Psalm, the psalmist and shepherd David asks himself, “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?” Just as David knew how to restore a cast sheep, so too our Good Shepherd cares for and restores our souls. Here’s Pastor David with this week’s message, “He Restores My Soul.”

Romans 8:28 is a well-known passage among Christians. Sometimes, well-meaning believers use this passage to console others during times of difficulty or tragedy. Understanding Romans 8:28 in its fullness is, in large part, about proper perspective. If we surrender our desires to God’s purpose, everything in this life, even difficult things we may not understand, are indeed for our good. As we draw closer to God, we begin to understand that his purpose is always directed toward his children. Here’s this week’s message, “According to His Purpose.”

The kingdom of heaven is about a person, Jesus; a place, heaven; and possessions, our eternal rewards. Jesus is the center and focus of our faith. He endured the cross and despised its shame for the joy that was set before him. We cannot take our earthly possessions with us when we die, but we can store up for ourselves treasures in heaven by investing in that which will last forever. As the poet C. T. Studd wrote, “Only one life, ’twill soon be past; only what’s done for Christ will last.” What person, what place, what possessions are you living for? Here’s this week’s message, “The Treasure.”

Do you have built-in times of “intermission” in your life? It’s easy to fill up our lives with busyness. Even good things, though, can become obstacles in our Christian lives. We spend so much time doing good things that we neglect the greatest good: God himself. We weren’t intended to go nonstop; we were created for periods of rest. The reality is that if we’re not intentional about scheduling our rest, it’s probably not going to happen! Here’s Pastor David with this week’s message,

This week, Pastor David is beginning a new series on Psalm 23, entitled “The Lord is My Shepherd.” The twenty-third Psalm has been a comfort to God’s people for millennia, reminding them of God’s presence in the midst of trial and his provision in times of difficulty. God cares for his people’s every need, just as a shepherd takes care of his sheep. No matter the storms that life throws at us, we can trust that our Good Shepherd will make sure that we want for nothing at all. We may not have every material comfort in this life, but if we are trusting in Jesus Christ alone, we can be absolutely sure that he will take care of us.
