  • California universities fight DACA termination
In early September US President Donald Trump announced the end of a program called Daca that his predecessor Barack Obama introduced, and which gave legal protection to children and teenagers who’d entered the United States illegally.
Many young people in the United States now don’t know what is going to happen to them. Because Obama’s programme started as a proposed law, known as the 'Dream Act', many of these young immigrants are known as 'Dreamers'.
Correspondent Ryan Thompson reports on how students in California, many of whom are 'dreamers', are reacting to the end of their legal protection.

  • Disappointment in Kenyatta's backyard after Supreme Court ruling
In President Uhuru Kenyatta’s backyard in central Kenya, there is a lot of anger and disappointment since the verdict of the Supreme Court.
At the beginning of the month, the judges cancelled Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection, because of "illegalities and irregularities" in the transmission of results.
For the opposition supporters, it is a huge victory, and a new hope to see their candidate, the veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga, enter the presidency.
But in Gatundu, Uhuru Kenyatta’s hometown, the verdict was hard to accept as Laure Broulard reports.

  • Assessing the impact of Sierra Leone's mudslides on UK diaspora Pt 2
Three weeks ago Sierra Leone experienced catastrophic floods and mudslides which left some 1,000 people missing and dead. Last month’s mudslides were the worst natural disaster ever to hit Sierra Leone, and one of West Africa's worst tragedies in recent times, with deforestation one of the leading factors of flooding and mudslides.
Britain’s Sierra Leone diaspora is one of the largest in Europe.
In London, on the grounds of St. John’s Church in Stratford, the Sierra Leonean community gathered at a candlelight vigil to play music, remember the victims, and also to voice their anger at the underlying issue which created the disaster.
Filip Warwick attended the vigil in this second report on the diaspora’s activism in the UK.
