In October of 2023, I participated in a Fundamentals Course with Global Underwater Explorers. I had many ideas of what I thought this course would be. I had many misconceptions going in, and the goal of this series is to highlight the misconceptions one might have about GUE and their standard of training. I sit down and speak with five instructors across the globe to hear their stories and gain some insight into this agency whose approach “Begins with the end in mind”.

For some, diving becomes more than a hobby, it becomes a lifelong passion. Jordan Allured first became certified when he was ten years old and he has been chasing breaths underwater ever since. I sit down and speak with Jordan about his progression through the sport which eventually led him to teaching with Global Underwater Explorers. The wide range of diving conditions in the UK, shipwrecks of the UK, advice on drysuits, why he chose to pursue a path with GUE, and some misconceptions one might have about GUE training and their standards.
