Gordon Studer’s earthy, confident abstracts are rooted in his discipline as an award-winning commercial illustrator, lending his work a strong, graphic cadence. The result speaks to liminal experience, interstitial time, and dreamscapes in deliberate forms in black atop a palette of ochre, sky blue, and crushed clays. Having studied fine art at Penn State, he went on to teach at the California College of the Arts, and enjoyed a 25 year career telling visual stories for Fortune 500 corporate clients and major media outlets. His background is evident as he applies an intentionality to his paintings, delivering on a specific narrative, inviting the viewer to a purposeful encounter. Based in Sausalito, California, he once experienced a bout of complete amnesia, allowing him to refresh his perception of the natural world and question concepts such as imagination, dream, and recollection. I’m an artist, photographer, and intuitive seer based in Los Angeles. After overcoming a meth addiction at 18, I found that the process of conceptual photography along with being personally apprenticed in Toltec Practices with Miguel Ruiz, Toltec Nagual and author of the Four Agreements, to be the sacred medicine that I needed. Alan Joseph Marx is a visual artist, curator, art consultant and mentor and the co-founder of OFFUS, an artist-run gallery in Los Angeles dedicated to showcasing mid-career artists. This is Alan's 2nd time on my podcast and so much has happened that I had to have him back on to share what's happening in his career ( and in my own!) and how we've taken things in our creative lives to the next level... individually and together.
OFFUS recently participated in TRYST, an International Art Fair partnered with the Torrance Art Museum. We discuss what that was all about and the impact it's had and what's next for the two of us and a special class we've created about how to take your art to the next level.
The link to the class "The Art of Being an Artist" is HERE
Space is limited and there's a special price happening right now.

Angie Byers is here today to share her experience of self portraiture and how it saved her life many times.
Tune in and listen to her share her incredible story of how she used photography as a way to heal.
“North Carolina based photographer Angela Byers is an emerging artist, working primarily in digital and Polaroid photography. After a vision disorder led her to photography in 2007, she wholeheartedly chose to chase life with a camera, in order to catch and observe what she was often unable to previously see."
Angie took my Self Portraiture as Medicine course several times over the years, met me in NYC for a photography workshop there and went to the South of France for one of my photography retreats there and has gone on to find a very distinct visual language of her own.
You can find out more about Angie on her website https://www.angiebyers.com
And you can follow her on Instagram / angiedbyers
We talk about one of her first images with the cassette tape ribbon coming out of her mouth and you can see that image here / c5zgpavrhkz

Hi there, I'm Catherine Ruby Just — Thank you for listening to this podcast episode I’m an artist, photographer, and intuitive seer based in Los Angeles. NMFWChrissie is the co-founder of the MANA MOVEMENT. I was so taken with her message I asked her to be on my podcast having only watched her on Instagram for 1 live post she did on the effects of drugs and alcohol on your soul and your spirit and what we can do about it. And then I find out she has a Sailing Experience on the Adriatic Coast and I'm now smitten. Learn more about this powerful being who helps you unlock your purest essence to live your life in LOVE.
Co-Founder of MANA, Chrissie has always been guided by the excitement of empowering people to be creators. Named 'chaqaruna' or Bridge-Person by the Q'ero, Wisdom Keepers of the Andes, Chrissie's North Star is activating and rewilding humanity with modern and indigenous wisdom, reminding people of what is already inside but forgotten or suppressed. Chrissie has been facilitating transformational weekends, workshops and retreats around the world intensively since 2012, moving online also in 2017.
The journey of motherhood has greatly shaped Chrissie's path, raising her two wild children travelling the world and sitting in sacred ceremonies, learning from elders. Chrissie has roots in activism, beginning at Greenpeace in the Press Office in the UK in 2000, combining her passions for communications with service, has launched numerous campaigns in frontline activism mainly in water conservation and more recently served on the New Earth Council as part of the Humanitad Foundation. As artist, Chrissie was signed to Virgin Records, has toured and created albums and continues to use her love of poetry, singing and frequency to complement her style of leadership. Her spiritual path led her to the Peruvian Andes in 2012 where she was initiated as Chullu Chaqera, or Sweat Lodge Mama Qona in 2017.
Simply, Chrissie draws from conscious motherhood and indigenous tradition to inspire her community back to the natural Truth of things.

What's the point of making art? In today's episode I talk about this question and how I answered it for myself. One of my students brought it up while making her watercolor painting in my Make the Work Coaching Program and I knew I needed to bring this to the podcast for those of you that ask that same question. I hope by the end of this episode you have a deeper understanding of why it's important for you and how your art might be essential to giving you experiences you can't find elsewhere. You might also find answers inside yourself about why it's important to share your art with the world. I have my own personal experience and ideas about this after grappling with this for several years inside my own art career.
I'm Catherine and I'm a full time artist, photographer, intuitive healer and transformational guide. I got sober from a meth addiction when I was 18 years old and have 36 years of continuous sobriety. I apprenticed with Miguel Ruiz, Author of the 4 Agreements and bring the Toltec Practices and Wisdom into everythinng I teach and do & I'm certified in Subconscious Reprogramming techniques to release limiting blocks from the root. I offer Artwork as sacred medicine, embodiment photography sessions, online courses & art/healing retreats in France. I'm the proud single mama of my 15 year old son Max, who happens to have Down syndrome. We make art together as a form of art as acitivism raising awareness about Down syndrome and Ableism.
