Today, we had on Owen Burden, Ross Funderburke, Will Morlan, and Reynolds Lambert for an epic round table discussion. We talked through the course changes, the emergence of the cat, our new world number 1, and Vegas odds for the week. The boys are back this week and we called up some old friends to talk a little shop. Today, we had on Keller Harper, Matt Lehman, and Stephen Reynolds to break down the South Carolina Golf Digest course rankings list. We go through each course on the list giving our breakdown and opinion on each track. Things get a little heated as we enter into the Top 10 of the list. Folks, we are back at again after a week long hiatus!! Today, we had on a special guest from the Virginia Tech Men's Golf Team, Mr. Connor Burgess. So far this season, Connor has accumulated an impressive scoring average of 70.89, and is currently ranked 138th on Golfstat! We had a great time with this episode and would highly recommend a listen.
Max, a current college golfer from Toledo, came on the pod to walk us through his wild college golf career. Starting out at Virginia, then transferring to Villanova, and now Toledo, he had some great insight to the college golf game. He shared with us how he started the famous Instagram, Milky Golf.
We have a great interview this week for you guys. Today, we had the pleasure of interviewing a member of the Charlotte Men's golf team, Mr. Matt Sharpstene. Matt has enjoyed an extremely successful amateur career as he was a semi-finalist for the 2020 US Amateur, and a quarterfinalist for the 2021 US Am. Most recently, he competed in the 2021 US Open. We discuss his experiences playing at these prestigious events, his practice rounds with Spieth and Bryson and what the future holds. We thank him very much for his time!
The Into the Grain boys are back at it again this week!! Been throwing haymakers this past week with exams, but we bring to you a great episode with a 4-time Rolex Junior All-American, and a member of the 2021 SEC All-Freshman team, Mr. Canon Claycomb. We talk about his career thus far at the capstone, misconceptions surrounding pro-golf, what he has learned throughout his time at Alabama, and his newly released clothing company. We thank him very much for his time and loved getting to chop it up with him.
Folks!! We are back at it again this week with a recent Monday qualifier of the RSM Classic, former Liberty Flame, and a current Korn Ferry Tour member, Mr. Mickey DeMorat. We had a great time picking his brain about the differences between a 4 round tournament and a Monday qualifier, and his experience making the cut in his professional debut at the 118th U.S Open at Shinnecock Hills. Folks, today we had on a member of the #6 ranked team in the country, Mr. Derek Hitchner of the Pepperdine Waves. Derek is currently ranked 34th in the college GolfWeek rankings, a winner of the 2021 Minnesota Amateur, Trans-Miss Am, and a 3-time participant in the US Amateur. The Into the Grain boys had a lot fun sitting down with Derek. We talk about everything from Minnesota Professional Sports to previewing the Waves Championship defense. Today, we had the pleasure of interviewing the former number number 1 junior player in the world according to Rolex AJGA and Golfweek junior rankings, and currently the 35th ranked amateur in the world. We discuss David Ford's decorated junior and young amateur career. David accumulated a 71.33 scoring average in his first semester in Chapel Hill and was an instrumental tool in the Tar Heels three team wins this fall. We really enjoyed having David on the pod. He is an extremely well-spoken guy, and we thank him very much for his time. Hope you all enjoy this one.
