Cars drive past the front of the Ramada, and airplanes fly overhead. Ed looks in the bathroom. The bloody washcloths and towels are still scattered on the countertops. He returns to the bed and sits down. Looking around the room, he notices a thick envelope tucked into his jacket pocket that’s laying at the end of his bed. He opens the envelope. Inside are two stacks of $100 bills, totally $20,000. Ed puts on his jacket and shoes, and walks into the Ramada hallway. He spots a cleaning woman with her housekeeping cart.

The federal agent rolls his eyes, then stuffs several stacks of bills into his own pants pockets. “Who are you going to tell?” asks the agent.  Ed and Diana look at each other. “You’ve got twenty four hours undisturbed,” says the agent, stuffing more money in his pockets. “You’re not to leave this room. After that, you’re on your own.” He walks toward the hotel room door. “Do we thank you, or what?” asks Ed. “I’d say I fall into the ‘or what’ category,” replies the agent, slamming the door behind him. The scene shifts to a car commercial. “Here’s Cal Worthington and his dog Spot!” says the female announcer.
