He reveals his choice of software, Audacity and Adobe Audition, and his preferred microphone, the Shure MV7. He emphasizes that it's not about having the most expensive equipment but how you use it to create high-quality audio.

"You can have the most expensive thing or use the most shiny, bright thing. That's out right now. But if you don't know how to use it, it's worthless. And even then, some people who use very simplistic tools or programs/software are actually incredible at it." 

Tony and Alex discuss the challenges and tactics for growing a podcast audience. Alex believes in staying true to his passion for diverse hobbies rather than following popular trends. He shares his experience of preparing ahead by recording episodes in bulk, enabling him to balance podcasting with other hobbies and family time.

"So my method is a little faux pas in the sense that people don't usually recommend it in the community. Like, you got to prepare, you got to prepare. I kind of do a balance of both... I enjoy not knowing much about my guests when interviewing them, because that allows me within the show to feel like, okay, I'm actually curious."

As a podcaster based in Africa, Tony seeks Alex's perspective on unique opportunities and challenges for African podcasters. Alex encourages aspiring African podcasters to embrace their own culture, diversity, and local heroes while promoting different perspectives and taking risks to stand out.

"Find what is important to you and elaborate on that. Focus on promoting local heroes and what's happening in your region. Don't try to be something else."
