The Disenfranchisement of Women in American Ideology

Women as a collective are completely overlooked as it pertains to skill in American society. Especially black and brown women of color who have to go twice as hard as their white counter parts to even land jobs in American society. This disenfranchisement goes back generations and has been fought against for generations. Today we need to start and push the revolution toward advocating more for our women’s inclusion into male dominated roles. These are the real grounds for creativity and will ultimately maximize the content we create and put out. Media, podcasting, sports, television, anchors, modeling, public speaking… is all examples of jobs women are kept away from or told they cannot be apart of.

Connecting this problem with our youth

We often go throughout life doing and saying things we’ve learned throughout our upbringing. The problem of disenfranchisement of our women within American society as been present within our communities for some time now. With phrases like “you throw like a girl” or “you run like a girl” or “you’re a girl what do you know” or “girl don’t play basketball/football” or “volleyball is for girls, it’s a girl sport” etc. As we grow up and hear/use things... phrases like this it literally puts a girl in her place. Hearing those things enables thoughts of doubt and the belief that she cannot do what she wants to do.

Reversing and eliminating this problem

Be you. And teach the youth as a collective to be authentically them. Overstand that whatever you discover your calling to be is not subject to your gender or what people think. We all have a calling and it is up to us to identify that calling and fulfill it within our lifetime. If fulfilling it means you may lose some friends or even family then that’s a sacrifice you should be willing to make. As people we have to stand behind our young queens as they identify what their calling is and move toward fulfilling it. Don’t allow your own biases to dictate how you motivate the youth you service or just come in contact with. Empower them through creative approaches while reaffirming them that they are worthy of whatever their calling is no matter what society says.

Balancing life in general is a task in itself. To think balancing life, your 9 to 5, and whatever side hustle you might have adds fuel to your already busy life. We will discuss ways you can be more effective balancing your 9 to 5 as well as your side hustle. Maybe you are an entrepreneur but can’t find the time to work on your business. We will discuss when it is the right time to work on your own brand as opposed to the company that currently employs you.

Miserable at your job; what’s next?

We will discuss possible reasons why you can be miserable at your job. What are ways that you can avoid being miserable at your job? What are your other options? What industry do you want to fall into? Is the job that you are choosing allowing you to build on the foundation of your business/side gig? Are you looking for a job that has the option of flexibility to allow time for your side business (if you are an entrepreneur)? Is being an entrepreneur something that intrigues you? If so, what field do you want to be in? If not, what would your other options be to get out of your 9 to 5 that you are miserable in?

Anthony Ray Hinton

• One of the longest serving prisoners on death row in Alabama serving a crime he did not commit

• After 12 more years of litigation, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed the lower courts, and a new trial was granted. The judge finally dismissed the charges after prosecutors said that scientists at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences tested the evidence and confirmed that the crime bullets cannot be matched to the Hinton weapon.

• During an interview with Hinton, he states that while he was in jail for 30 years, with nothing but a bed and a toilet chained to the wall “they took my 30’s, my 40’s and my 50’s but what they didn’t take was my joy”

• Within three years of being released from jail he wrote a book entitled The Sun Does Shine: How I found Life and Freedom on Death Row

Growing up in Rochester, New York Meshiko Brown naturally found his way into the music arena. As an artist he goes by Magic Gretzky. He is the last child of 17 kid’s total, 12 sisters and 5 brothers. As it pertains to music, his career began around the age of six years old. He says music has always been a hobby for him due to the fact that his brothers and sisters were so heavily involved. As a kid he watched how involved his siblings were into music that helped groom his craft. One thing that gave him inspiration to becoming a musician was the fact that he was always told that he sucked at making music. He is a musician that creates a certain type of music that touches base on mainly on how he feels about commodity that’s happening in his life, and taking place in the real world or just simply how he feels. He creates this type of music because he looks at his own voice as a weapon. There have been so many problems in this world that go unnoticed, or people are afraid to admit or talk about the issues. The reason he got into creating music is because he loves the fact that he can take a grasp into people’s emotions and it’s what excites him. He also feels that music is one of the keys to how you can save someone’s life. He has high hopes and wishes of becoming a music mogul. He wants to be a role model for people and looks forward to inspiring people while doing things for the community. He dropped his first debut mixtape "home for the holidays" mid-December 2015 and continued with a follow up “Three Sides Of The Story" mid-December 2016. Now that his fan base is growing and he is trying to let the world know who Magic Gretzky is, what he’s doing, and what city he’s from. He wants to leave a mark in the music industry along with the world forever. He has full intentions of continuing to push his music and will not stop until he is on the “all times list.”
